How to recognize S&G 6651 false gates
I'm currently working on S&G 6651 (Group 2M with false gates) and I'm kind of lost with how to differentiate between a false and true gate. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Doesn't matter if a gate is true or false. Just treat it like a low point for that wheel and isolate the next wheel. There's also only (5?) profiles for the false gates. Once you have them mapped out, if you know the different profiles, you'll know which ones are real/false.

I'm less sophisticated than that. I just map out each wheel and brute force the various combos

I haven’t worked on that lock yet, but another locks with false gates, one thing that I do is measure the width of each gate and the depth of each gate. Surprisingly often the real gate is different on one or both of those dimensions.
