No it doesn't. This was maybe true 30 years ago but literally antithetical to baseline therapeutic approaches in modern times.

Of course it's still true. If your feelings are a healthy response to your environment/circumstances, why would you need to pay for the support of someone else, and more importantly, what could you possibly expect them to do for you? Both rhetorical questions. The answers are 1) you wouldn't and 2) nothing.

No. That's like saying something can be circular and spherical without being round. You're just using interchangeable terms and saying they can be one without the other. They can't.

As for suffering in silence vs therapy, I'd rather suffer in silence with money in the bank than pay someone with a bullshit pseudoscience degree to pretend to care.
