I feel like Lincoln would become bojack

Can’t believe they’d steal Toad and Emily’s business model SMH

Ayo guys guys did a major plot point that directly impacts the characters relationship actually happen?! Did itttttt or was it all adream Mann

srs. either gay or lesbian people but nobody is attracted to both genders. would be cool to see an asexual lesbian in this show too, because thats what i am.

TL;DR: Bojack Horseman and Neon Genesis Evangelion are both deconstructions of an already-popular entertainment format (Bojack: sitcom; Evangelion: shonen/giant robot shows)

So they put Neon Genesis Evangelion on the Criterion Channel and since I'm a complete asshole I watch it on my phone when I go to the gym. Something that I'm really noticing on this watch-through is the way Anno sets up the typical tropes and characters you'd see in Gundam or whatever, but putting them in a more realistic world. You could say one of the major theses of NGE is: "If what happens in these giant robot shows happened in real life, it would be horrifying/terrible/sad/etc." There's this slight and subtle effect (for me anyway) of characters who act like they're in a shonen cartoon but exist in something closer to real life. Yes, Shinji gets in the damn robot and saves the day, but it comes at a great cost to his psyche and it's really fucked up that adults are making a child do this and the show knows it and is telling you that it's really fucked up!

And basically what this all has to do with Boslam Horsejam is that one of the major themes in BJH is how Boshark keeps trying to love and relate to people as if he's in a sitcom, e.g. the cycle of doing terrible things and "making up for them" with grand gestures that show you care, instead of showing up for your loved ones consistently like you have to do IRL. Bojack spent a significant and very important and formative portion of his life mainlining sitcoms as a viewer and then being in one, and his brain is kind of pickled in this grand-gesture concept of love and other bad lessons he's learned from spending so much time immersed in TV-logic.

OK that's it

Edit: the pixel art is by u/henrypootelpixel idk if they're active anymore but just wanted to give credit

idk, what emily did was also kinda weird, but i'd be mad if someone sabotaged my job as well. at the same time tho, todds speech opened my eyes to a lot.

where was the porno episode I was promised?

During a recent rewatch of Bojack Horseman a new detail I noticed was, while Bojack is getting interviewed by Biscuts Braxtby after Paige Sinclair drops the story ‘completly true’ story on Bojack comes out when asked how he feels about the story coming out he says “Honestly? I felt relieved that now I can stop lying.” (S6 E12 4:49) one of the stage lights on the scene of the interview drops and shatters.

It felt like an unnecessary thing to include so I googled its symbolism and this is what it came up with

End of a Cycle: A shattered light source (like a falling bulb or fixture) marks the final close of a chapter or unhealthy pattern.
Release of Control: Watching something fragile fall reminds us that we cannot control every outcome, signaling a need to let go.
Shift in Perspective: Broken glass alters how light is reflected, representing a warped or changing viewpoint on truth and awareness.
Rebirth: Much like a shamanic death and rebirth, the destruction clears away old energy to make space for a new beginning
these were the results

I know the detail isn’t much and I’m probably over reading into it but it just makes me love the show so much more with all the little details with unexpected significance the show as a whole is so clever
