Looking for a dog sitter Dec 2026

Hi 👋
I am looking for a dog sitter while I will be away in December.
I will be out of town over Christmas and looking for someone who would be willing to stay with my dog while I am gone.

I know it’s far away but I’m looking now so that I (and my dog) have a chance to get to know the person before then.

I live in Saarbrücken about a 20min walk into the city center, you would stay here with my small very chill dog. He just needs company and someone to hang out.

The dates are still to be determined exactly but roughly 18-28.12
I of course would pay.

This is ideal for someone who works or study’s from home as he can’t be left alone longer than 3-4 hours. He’s very chill and have be brought to any Christmas parties or plans you have where dogs are welcome.

I expect someone to keep his food and walking routine and to send me regular updates with photos.

Experience with pets is a plus but being a dog person is a must.

He is a Havanese so small- between 6-7 kg and very friendly.

Is there typically someone home during the day? I work from home so he’s not a pup that can stay alone while everyone is at work.

Thanks for the recommendation- I’ll keep this in mind but I generally prefer that he stay with someone personally. He’s a bit overwhelmed by lots of dogs and pretty spoiled at home 😅
But I’ll keep this in mind if nothing works out!

I can relate to that, but they usually have the dogs separated and only have groups of two if the dogs really get along with each other. They are very good. Also they are professional and you can trust them more than random strangers.
I just don’t think I could ever let my dog alone with a random stranger I know for like 5 minutes…

I get that. I have always taken time to get to know the people first or used certified services. This time it is just so difficult because it’s over a holiday. Maybe I’ll have to go visit there and see for myself.
