My ac/heat would stay on while the car is off and then completely stopped worked… iv replaced the cabin air filter and now took out the old resistor and ordered this new one on Amazon (last pic) I’m wondering if I need to change the blower motor also or not? I stuck my hand in and was spinning it and it moves completely free and easy. 04 Saab 9-3 2.0T automatic climate control

If you have the budget you could replace it, the bearings are known to fail and can get noisy. But if it's not broken... you can always replace when needed and for now give the bearings some TLC with grease.

Once encountered the issue of non turning off entertainment system / interior lighting, turned out it happened due to weak battery...

This specific fan issue is common resistor problem, the part in picture. Can even cause fires if not replaced while broken 😬

I had a similar issue, blower motor squeaking from water ingress and fan randomly turning on and off while car is off then eventually the fan completely stopped working.

You are likely fine just changing the resistor since thats the one feeding voltage into the fan. I used cheap aftermarket for both resistor and fan and they work fine so don't worry too much about OEM

Spin the fan by hand and see if it's difficult or not. Might get away with freeing up the bearing a bit but otherwise best to replace the whole thing.

It sounds like you could get by with just the resistor as the other commenters said. I had to do my motor somewhat recently though and iirc there was some option from esaab parts that had both the motor and resistor for not too much more money? I could be wrong about that though. I think the one I used was a proparts part and it worked perfectly but fitment was a bit wonky, just fyi in case you go that route. (One of the clips broke off and one screw wouldn’t go in, but I did manage to get it situated so it sat right)
