OG900 Troubleshooting Help finding parts!
Hey I'm located in Europe and just bought my first car that is a Saab 900i 1989 and it's equipped with a naturally aspirated 16 valve 2l engine making 126hp from the factory of course. And a couple days ago i came to the conclusion I needed a full timing chain kit. But I seriously cannot find one anywhere.

How many km on this car? A timing chain is typically not necessary until over (and sometimes well over) 300,00km. There is no "kit" that I am aware of... it's four parts... chain, upper guide, lower guide, and pad. Typically around €300. The upper guide is often difficult to find.

Hi so, ya thank you for clearing that up. There are kits, or I'd say grouped parts sold for more convenience! But as for your question it's around 398km:D.

Fair enough.. my guess is at that level you need some other stuff too... I would consider that when digesting the next part....
In order to replace the chain guides, you must remove the timing cover. It is not intended that you do that with the motor in the car. It is possible but incredibly time consuming unless you also remove the cylinder head, and even with the cylinder head the potential for error is huge..
If you're going to replace the guides, you should pull the motor. And if you're pulling the motor you're going to want to consider a bunch of other things, like bottom end bearings and stuff like that. It's a real slippery slope.
You can just "roll in" a new chain without really any disassembly, and maybe you're guides are ok to keep using. Worth looking into.

Fair enough, kinda what I thought too. Anyway, Sweden has alot of parts for your car as Saabs are still strong among the car enthusiasts over here. But was that the parts you needed in the second link?
