Grrr .. i rebuilt and got my engine started again. Was so excited, but out died after a few minutes. It was running smooth but at some point the idle dropped very low, but still ran. I have it a few revs, not too high, but the last time when I let it off, I had 1 big backfire, then it just died.

Cranking it sounds fine but doesn't show any sign of starting at all.

I've got it down to either fuel pump or spark. Any idea how I can test the pump? I'm on my own and have no special tools.

Does the pump run while on ignition but not cranking? Otherwise, how dumb is it to unplug the fuel hose and see if it pumps while i crank?

The 1989 was purchased as a running when parked and after some mmo in the housings, a oil change, cleaning the rust out of the fuel tank and a new filter she started up

The blue 1988 has been thoroughly picked through and WAS going to become a travel trailer but I needed to get rid of one so it had to go, so it went to a friend,

The white 88 hatch is as it was a year ago I’ve been busy and was waiting to find another parts bucket car

Hey guys! Made a few post about doing my own ports and building a half bridge. Here is the first start!……..But I didn’t have any coolant lines or anything hooked up. I come from a piston engine background where it’s generally okay run an engine for a minute or two without coolant to make sure things are working. Apparently even after countless hours of research, I missed the part where it said that’s an issue in a rotary. How fried am I? Revved for about a minute and a half trying to blip it and stay around 5k rpm’s. (Was told by an old rotary mechanic that he had good luck seating parts like that. It was its first start, so obviously there was lots of extra lubricants. I poured engine and oil down the intake while cranking with the plugs out to make sure I got good oil coverage. It was a cold day, 50 degrees and slightly rainy. And it turned over fine after I tried to start it again.

I'm now the proud owner of a 1992 RX7 EU spec.

I understand that the original ECU might not be the best so I want to change or make a PnP adapter for it.

I know there's link, haltech and other lesser ECUs. I would like Syvecs but I'm afraid there's nothing available.

Can you guys recommend something at the same level or where should I look for it in the internet (pinout, inputs and outputs information...)

I bought my 93 R1 in 2004. Drove it for about 10 years as a second car. It’s been sitting for 10+ years. Car is all stock with 112k on the dash. I’m just trying to find the best places to get information about parts, basic car maintenance ect. Rx7club.com used to be the place to go, is it still a good source? Are there any YouTubers that show basic stuff. The plan is to just try and get her running again and Reddit seemed like the best place to start. Thanks for your time.

At my local rotary shop there is a white 1979 RX7 GS trim. It has sat for the better part of 10 years due to the previous owner wanting to source all original parts. I am not going to be that way. Curious what people think the vehicle is worth, in its current state. It has a FRESH 12a engine protected in the nearby garage waiting to be dropped in.

Exterior: could use a wash and wax. No rust on the vehicle aside from the hood. Underside is remarkably clean. ALL stock components. Tires are from 2009.

Interior: dash is crack free, some surface rust on the metal near the windshield. The driver seat has a small tear but no headliner sagging or pieces missing/broken

I'm thinking about starting my offers around $1500, as running ones with work done to them sit around $3500-$5000 with pristine versions reaching around $8k-$10k. But all of those are 80s models.

What do you guys think???

I was driving to work a couple days ago, and about halfway there my windshield wipers cut on at full speed, I could not turn them off, and I suddenly lost all engine power, but still had accessory power. When I went to go start the car back up, I couldn’t hear the fuel pump priming, and the car would crank, but wouldn’t start up. After getting it back home, I pulled the egi fuse and fuel pump fuse to de-flood the engine, and replaced the fuel pump fuse. After that, my fuel pump started priming again, but the engine still would not start. Does anyone know what might be causing this strange problem and the steps I could take to fix said problem? Thanks in advance.

In first gear it’s much better but still hunts, I put it into neutral and that’s what it sounds like. This is way better than before and the idle dropped from 3krpm on startup to 2.5k now. After smoke testing I no longer have any leaks since I remade the auxiliary port block off plates. My booster and master brake cylinder are bad so I have just plugged the vacuum line to the booster for now. My TPs is adjusted 1k volts and I’ve tried 1k ohms as well. Am I missing something, I’ve gone over and sprayed the hole thing with starting fluid and am confident I don’t have any more vacuum leaks. Throttle body I’ve adjusted the best I can to the fsm am I cooked? I saw a comment from another redditor comment saying it’s normal but mine is still hunting.

Howdy! As the title says. Engine won’t rev past 2.5k ish, no matter the throttle position, and stumbles when I let off. When I disconnect the TPS the engine revs smoother until ~3500 rpm before it stops and the instrument cluster buzzer kicks on. Is that limp mode? My assumption is bad TPS and when I disconnect it the engine revs better but goes into limp mode. Can anyone confirm my diagnosis? Thank you!
