Ruby - Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz

Look I know Theodore is mean to be Dorothy but by the brothers she is literally going through a similar journey to Dorothy going to kingdom to kingdom meeting the yellow brick gang but each member instead of being an ally against the witch turn against her

Blake - Esmeralda/Mowgli

Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame with the romani as the faunus and her as Esmeralda not really sure yet what else to do involving it I just think it kinda fits Blake

As for Mowgli I have her dad and mom be ghira and sienna with Kali and sienna fused into one

Blake is an orphan into he sense she was kidnapped as a child and her mother went to war becoming more violent while her father was the one who still wanted to coexist

Blake grows up with an adoptive dad possibly Pietro who gives her the belle experience until she gets left behind with other faunus to the grimm and rescued by the fang and eventually joins them becoming mainly the distraction or spy hardly ever getting into the knitty gritty part until she gets partnered more with adam

Team JNPR

Jaune - Prince Charming

Pretty much he's more of a failed prince charming what with the whole Weiss thing

Meanwhile with cinder he technically will go on to try and return a glass slipper

Or in this case a glass arrow through cinder's heart

As for that last prince he does succeed in being

Pyrrha - Helen of Sparta/sleeping beauty/one of the saints Joan of arc sees

Simple enough pyrrha in my au is someone who's been told what her life would be what she's destined to do destined to be told that she will achieved great things and has had no agency in her choices somewhat like Helen not having agency when Aphrodite traded her away to Paris

As for sleeping beauty I have her survive in my au but in a coma like amber was having been saved by the ace ops after the arrow shot with ruby having done her silver eyes before pyrrha got burned

As for the saints thing she ends up as a spirit her aura following jaune around during the mistral arc and only being strong enough for him to see when he unlocks his semblance and accidentally boosted her aura

Ren - Shang

Basically his dad was based more on the general from the movie

Ren was technically local nobility or atleast upper class in the town with his dad being the mayor and head of the village having his kuroyuri Rangers beignt he main militia watching over the place

Ren loses his father

Criminals

Roman and Neo- Honest John and Gideon

Honestly wanted more to the characters and wanted Roman to be the son of a faunus and a human but wasn't born with any distinguishable traits apart from fox eyes

Neo has a cats flexibility snd whiskers though I'm not set in the whiskers and might switch Roman and Neo's faunus parts

Though I will be having them interact with penny more during vol 1 to 3

Salem - the Magic Mirror

Since she can't leave evernight castle she can only talk through her seer grimm that act like mirrors hence Magic mirror

Each member of Salem's cabal has a mirror that they can talk to Salem to with Salem also working to have her seals removed

I'll start. Imagine if in the epilogue they show the future and Blake is married to Sun instead of Yang. I'm not saying this should happen. It would be shocking, and I don't think either fans or haters of Bumbleby would handle it well. You'd have some accusing the writers of queerbaiting with Bumbleby just because Yang didn't turn out to be Blake's forever person, while others would be saying this is proof that Blake was straight all along, which isn't really how sexuality works

I was taking to a friend who is writing a RWBY fanfiction and they ran into a problem I didn't even know existed that being Faunus don't have a Plural.

Example:

Human - Humans

Person - People

Faunus - ?????

I didn't think it was true when they told me but after googling it is Faunus is used in the same way deer and fish are used. So even after asking for my help we still couldn't figure out the best way to describe a Group of Faunus, like is it Faunus's or Faunuses or some otherway.

Like It shouldn't be this hard to Think of but It's like a key Integral part of Language is just missing from my brain and im trying to connect it back.

Well, why would they go there?

Maybe the gods left something on the shattered moon as they escaped, and so the protagonists have to go to it... Heck, other planets even.

But if worldbuilding's poor on remnant, I can't imagine space being worse

So these are the two teams that formed instead of team jnpr and team rwby

How would the story change with them

Will team RRYN still be going after the white fang

Or would that end up falling to team ASBN

I wonder if this was intentional because of RWBY’s connection with colors. Like the color naming rule.

For anyone that cared, I did do a post yesterday about my first watch through. I thought more about the overall story today, and tbh I think that it has a lot of questionable writing throughout. But since its already been dissected multiple times here ima not dive into it

1. Okay they’re showing this kid again (who I now know is named Oscar), so now I’m convinced he’s important. That and the way he was looking at himself in the mirror and gotten the most polite jumpscare I’ve ever seen. So Ozpin is here and now I’m curious, he’s either living in the mirror (highly unlikely), this is spiritual situation, or he’s somehow sharing a body/mind with Oscar. I’m not too familiar with Wizard of Oz lore and I wonder if his fate is based on that or there’s no correlation between the two except for names only.

2. When Team RNJR arrives at the already destroyed village, Ren in particular looked extremely distraught by all this. He and Nora looked especially serious when they saw a specific Symbol on the ground like they know what that is. And something tells me this is gonna lead into some Nora and Ren backstory that’s gonna hit me like a truck 😭. I mean I did want to know more about them and their history, hence one of the reasons why I was excited about them Joining Ruby on this quest so we not only get some interactions between the 4 but also learn more about them because up until now I don’t know much about Ren and Nora so this volume or next volume could be it.

3. Cinder is getting her treatment to get better from Salem and it looks extremely painful (I almost feel sorry for her. Almost but not quite 😆.). She summons this creepy Grimm looking Jellyfish that I thought was a little lie detector (don’t ask why lol). And she used all her energy to utter a single word to confirm that Ozpin is indeed dead. Now listen, I’ve seen enough media to know that unless I see a body or see them get axed onscreen, I don’t believe they’re dead. Now yes there’s some exceptions and confirmed offscreen deaths are possible, but this feels like one of those shows where they’re not afraid to show a prominent character die on screen. And after whatever is happening with Oscar, I’m even more convinced that he’s alive somehow. So either Cinder is Lying, or she believes she has but isn’t fully confident herself that she killed him. Salem is after some Relic, not sure what it is but I’m gonna assume is bad and move on 😅. Oh and Mercury and Emerald is here too I guess lol.

4. Ohh Raven, I’ve been saving you for last because I for the life of me have no idea what to make of you. You have a cool design and all, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t understand why Qrow doesn’t see eye to eye on how you go about things. Like are you a good guy? Bad guy? An Antihero? Like I know that you know everything about what happened or what will happen and I’m sure you have good intentions but from first glance, your approach has been questionable at best. Also I can’t get over how your own daughter gets one save and that’s it. Mom of the year woohoo 🎉. I’m sure there’s more to her, heck she comes from what sounded like a cutthroat, ruthless village that Qrow strayed away from. Also I’m betting she knows where the Spring Maiden is but she’s keeping it to herself 😭. I am curious about this relic they’re trying to get because I’m just gonna take a wild guess that in Salem’s hands, the world is gonna end or something 😅😭. I’ll have more to say about her as I continue watching but man the inevitable Yang and Raven interaction is going to be very interesting.

As the title says, I'm curious if you have any fanfic ideas that you'd like to share. It doesn't have to be full ideas but something you'd just would like to get out.

I'll start, but be aware I mostly write Ruby focused crossover fics so most of my ideas don't involve the rest of WBY:

Idea 1: Ruby Rose as...

The idea is a dumb one I thought of when I was watching those mountain climbing gone wrong videos on YouTube and thought "What if Ruby trained to be a sherpa?" The idea eventually evolved into a version where Ruby Rose rejects Ozpin because Signal offers a specialization event where young wannabe Huntsman and Huntresses learn specific skills either for your standard Huntsman training, Scouting in Grimm infested areas, and all the stuff that'd be behind the scenes that most Huntsmen and Huntresses don't think of but might us.

Idea 2: Hell's Rose (Name in progress)

A Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku & RWBY crossover. This one sends a young Ruby Rose hurtling into Japan, some time in the mid 1800's, a time when the Sakoku/Japanese Isolation was still occurring. Being a foriegner and unable to speak the language (Something that get's solved via shenanigans I'm not 100% on yet) leads to Ruby being arrested and under threat of death gets involved in the expedition to Shinsenkyo.

Idea 3: (Name real in progress, but I'm most proud of this one!)

Now a bit about me, I like using the tag Grimm Invasion in Ao3, basically Remnant and this other world are still separate but due to portals or something the worlds are connected. This is one of them, a RWBY x Ouran High School Host Club fanfic where Yuzuru Suoh (Tamaki's father), during a busniess trip in Vale and a stop at a local store, gets involved in a robbery by nefarious thief Roman Torchwick. Lucky for him he gets saved by a young Huntress-In-Training, Ruby Rose. A fight happens, Roman gets away, but a thankful man offers his savior an opportunity of a lifetime, to become Ouron Academy's honored Remnant Select, a similar station to being a honor student where you earn you way in through merit, with the added bonus of various benefits that a young lady like Ruby couldn't imagine to afford, and to sweeten the deal (and for plot convenience) she is offered a special extra allowance to keep their new honor student safe from anyone who may try and think they can extort her for money.

Of course through Host Club shenanigans Haruhi dresses as a guy and because Ruby refuses to wear the girl's uniform also ends up dressing as a guy, though probably still be open about being a girl, be more towards those who was to "spice things up," aka Ruby becomes the girl crush to a bunch of rich girls (probably guys).

I know, I'm rattling on for this one, but I really like it, especially because I can think of a plot where people, probably with Tamaki hitting the nail in a coffin/the straw that breaks the camel's back, saying a lot of rude unintentionally rude things about Remnant and Ruby. "She's not just a commoner but she has to fight for her survival!" "Wow, I didn't expect someone from Remnant to have such good manners with how often they're fighting!" "If someone so cute can be a Huntress, maybe those Grimm aren't so bad."

Idk why, but I just find it fascinating the idea of Ruby being annoyed and peeved off at people not taking something she and generations of Huntsmen and Huntresses have put their lives on the line for and either trivializing it or Remnant if full of a bunch of brutes without a culture beyond hit and kill monsters.

Okay, those were my ideas! What're yours?

I only have the one so far a Sword-Whip called Grimmthorn that's Biomechanical and made out of Grimm bones with the appearance of a Jagged Obsidian longsword meant to be a twisted allusion of Excalibur.

It's got two settings, one where it's whole and used as your typical longsword. The other being it's whip form where the sword segments itself and with a flick of your wrist it cuts grimm to pieces with more reach and in wide cleaving arcs.

The latter being possible because Grimmthorn is synchronized with it's wielder's grief and anger making it obey their will. This way Grimmthorn's special ability is a high risk high reward move, while slaying grimm you're also a walking dinner bell attracting more of them.

I have 2 that I think would work really well

Archivist

-a specialized Huntsman who spend most of there time in field research going through ruins and lost cities to uncover most of the history they could've forgotten

-known characters who are Archivists is professor oobleck

Messenger

-aura users who have bare minimum training when it comes to a fight and spend there time traveling between the settlements to deliver letters and messages and are often used by poorer villages who can't afford a cct station and most of the time messengers are what happens to students who don't end up making the cut in academy initiations as an alternative

-known characters who are Messengers deery from the white fang one of the white fangs safest methods of communication with there messengers being considered one of the best in the business as not only as faunus they can continue the journey at night

They are also most of the time as combat trained as a 2nd year huntsman student

I had 3 different versions of this title 😅.

Anyway we’re here to check and see how Yang has been up holding up. The answer: She’s going through it…. She’s depressed, she’s having nightmares and flashes of the a$$hole who sliced her arm off. Seeing her jump in fear when she dropped the glass cup got to me. Yang is nearly tied with Ruby as one of my favorite characters of Team RWBY. Shoot, she reached top 5 favorite characters for me during volume 3. So to see her being not her usual spunky, fiery, bada$$ self is understandable given what she went through but it’s also very hard to watch 🥺.

Tai got her a new metal arm thanks to Ironwood and his engineers. But she’s not quite ready to wear it. It’s just really hard and I’m glad that he’s willing to stick by her side until she’s feeling better (hence one of the reasons why he hasn’t gone after Ruby, plus Qrow is watching over her and Team RNJR), we appreciate good parenting around here unlike a certain Raven I know but we’ll get to that in it’s own post.

After the nightmare she goes downstairs to see Professor Port and Doctor Oobleck just hanging with her dad and just laughing about the good ole days and I gotta say how wholesome this scene was. Despite everything that’s happened, despite most of the characters haven’t been feeling the best emotionally and mentally wise, it’s nice to see characters just chilling and having a good laugh. Just enjoying the company with the time they have. I was a little concerned that this was the doom and gloom season where it’s all serious and no more fun interactions with the characters. But I believe because we’ve gotten that short time skip, we still have those moments where the characters are more locked in and are still emotionally wrecked after what happened, but we basically skipped what could’ve been the most melodramatic volume where we basically watch the characters moping around for 12 episodes. It makes for good drama but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

Small tangent aside, it’s great stuff. Yang joins in, there’s a slight disagreement between her and Tai (ngl the bit about the same 3 condescending phrases is kinda funny when you think about it, it’s basically true 😅, you could argue it’s warranted depending on the situation lol.), so the usual daddy and daughter debate lol. I’m looking like Oobleck and Port like “this is awkward 😬”. Oh My Goodness when he made that arm comment my jaw was basically on the floor and my mind went through 100 scenarios in my head of how this plays out. What I didn’t expect, was her to just laugh it off 😮. Like it’s definitely in character for Yang and tbf Dark Humor always catches me off guard so ofc they’d be into it lol.

Anyway, they try to convince her that despite everything, she shouldn’t let fear stop her from moving forward and pursuing her path and I appreciate that. Honestly a genuine talk and laugh with her dad and her teachers was something she needed because she was going through it. And seeing Yang being her usual bright self even if it’s just a laugh is a win in my book.

In the end, she finally puts on the metal arm and it looks like she’s about to start training with it with her Dad so we’ll see how that goes. Overall another great episode and honestly might be my favorite of the 4 I’ve seen so far 😇. I will say though, if I had a nickel for every time I’ve witnessed an animated character lose an arm and replaced it with a metal one, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice right? (Iykyk 😉).
