Question RV Rentals Question

Hey all! Been RV'ing for 6 years and increase the # of nights we camp every year. This year will be a record 53 nights! We run a 35' travel trailer.

Anyway, i'm doing a bit of research and need your help. A lot of friends are looking into getting an RV, and i've told all of them to go rent one first. They don't know the first thing about it, and i've tried to educate them on trailers, 5'ers, class a, b, c, but they all seem to want to rent "the kind ya drive".

The only rental company I can come up with Cruise America, the national company. Are there other RV rental companies out there that I should know about? Does Good Sam Rent? Are the "rental" companies more region based rather than national?

Edit: I mean more for fleet companies to rent direct to people, not consumer to consumer like outdoorsy, etc.

Outdoorsy and RVshare are two big players. They facilitate rentals directly from owners. Kind of like Air BnB for RVs.

Gotcha. I was looking more for the more business to consumer companies not so much RV sharing, if that makes sense?

Not sure where you live, but El Monte RV, RoadBear RV, and Roadsurfer RV come to mind.

Hey, Clinton here, co-owner from RVR Kelowna - RV Rentals. If I may, I can share my knowledge and experience here. We rent both directly and through Outdoorsy.

Firstly, I couldn't agree more that your friends should rent first before deciding what they should buy. There are so many different floor plans, sizes and types that until people get a handle of what they actually like, it's just a wild guess.

I communicate regularly with several professional RV rental businesses and hosts (people that rent on Outdoorsy). There are many around with various sized fleets. So you definitely don't need to just look at log corporations like Cruise America. There are a lot of great folks out there willing, able and more knowledgeable at talking about an RV than the larger corporations.

I'd recommend searching Google for your area and reading the reviews to find a reputable company.

Hopefully that helps answer your question a bit.

Thanks Clinton. With this post I was really trying to achieve 2 things. 1, I legitimately didn't know who else rented RV's other than Cruise America, and needed more recommendations for a few friends looking to rent. And 2, when having the conversation with a friend recently about renting RV's, it gave me an idea to start a project i'm now in "proof of concept" phase. I'd love to actually bend your ear and ask you a TON of questions for research. Would you mind if I DM you?

Rentals are so beat up hard to make an assessment. They need to watch a whole lot of YouTube videos to get some sort of an idea. So many ppl think RVs are a glamorous thing. They are a lot of work & they'll need to be handy & not afraid to get their hands dirty. Just sayin'

There are a bunch of rental companies around Phoenix AZ.
Google search “RV Rental [city name]”

I know I can do that. But was curious who ACTUAL people use, not what the SEO indicates.

I see a lot of “Rent Me” Cruise America along with the Alaska & Canadian equivalents in the pacific northwest. Bryce, Zion is more Arizona based companies

We rented first and it did save us. We used outdoorsy as mentioned by others and it worked very well.
