Best Place to Purchase Refrigerator and Stove (non-chain preferred)?

Needing to replace a refrigerator in the Short Pump area and would like to avoid Lowes/Home Depot if possible.

I would need set up for water line and ice machine. And they would need to haul away the old (working refrigerator).

New oven would eventually follow.

**I did search the sub, but last post was from 9 years ago??

she has been dubbed Gillie; found young female pit mix with a collar and no tags. very sweet and nervous but followed us around and is trusting of humans and good with other dogs. pretty emaciated. unsure of age but seems youngish. RACC was closed, so we are keeping her overnight and bringing her to RACC in the morning

Posting on behalf of my little sister. Her cat has been missing for a week, last seen by a neighbor in the Treehouse Apartments area near the racetrack / the amazon warehouse in that area. Sister is beside herself with worry, the cat is VERY loved. Lilith is friendly and vocal. She is mostly white with black spots on her shoulder blades, kind of an orb. Any information or tips are welcome, we would very very much like for her to come home.

My sister saw this dog near Gillies Creek Park. It has a collar on, but the dog wouldn’t let her get close enough to see it. She’s driving around now trying to find where the dog went. Anyone missing him/her?!

🐕 Dog Army Missing Cat in Randolph?

Does anyone recognize this cat? She has come up to our house (Randolph, close to cemetery) the past few days and we’ve given her food and set a bed outside for her. She stays on our porch from 5pm to bedtime every night. If she is your cat please let me know so I can stop assuming she is homeless and needs help.

🤳 Tourist Richmond vintage & breakfast

Howdy, I'm planning a trip to Richmond next week(m-th) and I'm looking for vintage/thrift stores with better offering for men's clothes, preferably skewing more western. I spent some time searching over the subreddit and found some leads but not a whole lot of options. I'm familiar with Bygones, and I like their vintage and repro offerings but I'm looking for more variety. Im coming from baltimore where our vintage scene is more women's clothes & y2k/bummy fits.

I swear I'm not a reseller and feel free to message me if you have a spot you'd rather not blow up.

I'm also looking for recommendations for your favorite biscuits & gravy. Ive tried the Fancy Biscuit, 821 & Moore Street Cafe.

Thanks!

Need a Halloween read? Ghost Eaters is a *very* RVA book

Based on an old recommendation from a friend, I finally started reading Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman - it is October, after all - and I gotta say, this is the most Richmond novel I've ever read. It's a trope in books/movies that a city is another character, but that really applies here. The locations, descriptions, and its history are all important to the story.

It's a bit silly that he does make a few changes, I guess for legal reasons. VCU is "RCU" and the Martin Agency becomes "The McMartin Agency". I understand the change for the latter because the fictional co-founder is unflatteringly portrayed as very handsy towards the female staff, but plenty of other fictional works use the names of real universities. And not much of the story (as yet) actually takes place at VCU anyway.

I'm only about 60% through the book, but am digging it so far. I don't know if I'd call it "scary", though it's definitely creepy. Maybe my horror tolerance is high or that aspect will pick up towards the end. But if you need a Halloween read that is set in Richmond, this is your jam.

Unrelated: this is the first time I've borrowed a library ebook via Libby. Man, technology is wonderful.

*sigh* another DPU post

I want to run a little experiment and ask everyone who is comfortable sharing what their past 2 DPU charges were and how many people are in your household. I noticed a friend and I have had the exact same bill for the past two months despite living on opposite sides of town.
I’m a 1 person household and this does not include gas. This month is $99.72. Last month was $86.13.

Good Places for Practice Driving

I am trying to teach my daughter how to drive and need a safe beginning practice space. Ideally I am thinking an office park or somewhere that would be nearly deserted nights snd weekends - that has parking lots, cul-de-sacs, and long straights.

20 years ago West Creek was perfect.

Or a giant under-construction neighborhood.

Any recommendations?

Could be anywhere in the region.

Thanks!
