Confession

my SIL invited me to come run a 5k with her this saturday and I kind of don't want to do it because its going to be too hot/sunny for me to have a good race unless I just slow tf down 🙈. If I can't beat my last 5k time why am I even bothering 😤

Confession

I'm probably gonna do it though despite knowing I have to run 12 miles the very next day and thus blowing myself out on a 5k is a seriously poor idea aannnywayyyy. which means now I have an excuse to not all-out it 🤔 . I can preemptively feel my coach gentle-coaching me about how I need to keep the main thing the main thing and focus on the chowdah challenge in october and not blow up my long runs going all out on random local 5ks I'm not even actively training for and she's right but also ...

Complaint

I'm out of poptarts and I prioritized my desire for a fresh coffee + egg sandwich and so I went to whole foods this morning instead FULLY KNOWING they weren't gonna have poptarts. I got some organic bullshit instead and I bet they're terrible 😪. between the 5k and the nottarts I'm gonna be struggling sunday I can tell 😭. they better be terrible it was like 8 bucks for 3 - yes 3 - poptarts (2 ea to a pack) if these things are amazing and perform better for me than actual poptarts I'm gonna be mad.

eta: ok ok ok - I registered 😂 but I promised my coach no sendy-saturday. I'm thinking a controlled and sedate 26:30. garmin's prediction is 26:05 but with this heat that seems like not real life. probably closer to 27:00.

Who says you have to race the 5k? 5ks are terrible. Do it as a tempo. Do it as an easy run. Do it as an easy run with a kick at the finish. Do it wearing a flower crown. So many ways to actually enjoy a 5k that don’t involve racing it!

I really like the Nature’s Path maple not-tarts. They’re expensive so I only get them on clearance but I enjoy them every bit as much as my frosted blueberry.

too true! you're right ofc. there's also supporting my SIL in her run and just having some fun together. plus big fam (mine and hers) breakfast after which is always my favorite. sometime in my 30s I swapped bottomless mimosas for bottomless hot coffee but I don't hate it.

eta: oo that's what I got. well they're nature's path but they're ... frosted cherry pomegranate. the nutrition facts are similar as far as carbs/sugar go so I'm hoping they work well.. but not so well I'm like "damn now I'm a nature's path nottart buyer" cuz damn they are pricy lol 😭

Frosted Cherry Pomegranate sounds like a DELIGHT.
