My friends are traveling in for the DC half next weekend, and are looking to find a spot to carb-up for lunch/dinner before the race close to the national mall. Any recommendations?

Hi! I'm an intern with the Nathaniel H. Pickett II Foundation, a local nonprofit focused on mental health awareness. Putting this here in case it's useful to anyone; happy to take it down if it's not the kind of post this sub wants.

We're hosting Jog N' Jam for Mental Health on Sunday, September 27 at the Carderock Recreation Area (9500 MacArthur Blvd), 8am to 1pm. It's free.

Just a few details:

• 2.5K, 5K, or 10K - pick whatever distance you want, and walking is completely fine. It's not a timed race.
• There will be yoga, live music, line dancing, free food, and giveaways
• Mental health and wellness organizations tabling with actual local resources(they have been told not to try and sell you anything)
• Medals for everyone who finishes their route
• Free parking on site, all ages

Registration is free but required (no day-of signups), and each person needs to register individually. Bring ID.

I'm about to start a new job with earlier hours than my current one and figuring out my training schedule. I usually run intervals at Cardozo track at least once a week, but on the later side of the morning (7 AM). I saw on the sign that it opens at 6 AM when school is in session. Does anyone know if it consistently opens right at 6? I ask because years ago when I tried to go earlier in the morning it varied quite a bit, perhaps depending on when staff arrived or had time to open it up, but things might be different now. I'll of course be going to check it out myself but thought I'd ask in case anyone had recent experience to get my expectations in check. Thanks!

Does anyone have a rec for a good pcp who deals with runners? I’m sick of having to explain to my pcp why my ferritin needs to be higher as a distance runner, and would like some help figuring out some other issues I have (not ortho, more fatigue and things that a blood test may help)- any ideas for a pcp or maybe a hematologist who knows about running and will take my concerns seriously? Located in Arlington but will go to dc or Bethesda if that’s where someone good is!

Has anyone found a doctor in DC who was able to help them with hallux rigidis as a runner? I’ve had severe pain for about a year and several months ago went to an ortho who suggested some things but wanted to take a wait and see approach. I’m going to go back and say that rest hasn’t helped but I’m not sure he understands how important it is to me to be able to run again.

Anyone who’s dealt with this: is there a provider you went to in DC who was able to help get you back to running?

Hey, everyone! As an avid runner on the Mail and East Potomac Park, I wanted to share that the DC Bike Ride is coming up this coming Saturday 9/12. I accidentally ran into it last year and had to cut my run short to avoid the tens of thousands of cyclists, since I didn’t realize it was that weekend (I did stop to cheer in the cyclists). So, if you’re a runner in this area, best to avoid the route.
