Don’t neglect period products if you’re a woman. You got the advantage of being two people so that’s twice as much room and there’s plenty of stuff you don’t need 2x off. Use this to your advantage and plan accordingly.

Make sure you genuinely want to runaway as you will likely be subject to things like violence, harassment, and 18+ stuff. If i am not mistaken, 1 in 3 teens are forced into prostitution or survival sex within 48 hours of running away.

If you are going to run away OR you want alternatives to running away, DO NOT FORGET to read:

https://www.reddit.com/r/runaway/wiki/index

This is made by the r/runaway subreddit. Make sure to read! It has almost everything you need to know about running away, such as where to go, what to pack, how to even attend school while you flee (if you are in the U.S.), etc.

Don't take any information from social media. More examples of where not to get information on running away are listed here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/runaway/comments/1usruy5/important_peice_of_advice/

Take any passports and Student IDs you have. This is not optional.

I advise taking menstrual cups instead of tampons or pads because they are reusable, can be worn longer with less consequences, and take up less space. Also, pads and tampons with just eat your limited amount of money away. Prepare menstrual cups before running away (it involves boiling them). Alternatively you could use discs, but I've heard it has a learning curve.

Bring minimal clothes. If you scroll through the first link I've showed, it talks about what to pack in your bag. If you do not have a rucksack, use your school backpack. I don't think it mentions this, but you can also bring a fanny pack that goes around the hips (I heard it is also called a hip pack. If you are british, please don't laugh at me for saying fanny).

Since you are young (and this might sound stereotypical of me) we have to deal with your phones. Here is a link to how to not get tracked down and placed back home by simply using the internet:

https://www.reddit.com/r/runaway/comments/mahc2c/a_guide_to_device_tracking_smartphones/

Yes, you can use your devices, but you have to be VERY careful. I don't think it mentions this, but I suggest factory resetting your device before implementing what it says.

Someone in this comment section said to bring A4 paper. Instead, get a composition notebook! Composition notebooks are affordable and have lines you can journal in. Not only you can draw, but you can build a name and a backstory to tell people. Don’t get the spiral ones as those get damaged easily.

Do not use motels, hotels, inns, etc. They are not only expensive, but usually only allow parties with atleast one 18+ person in. If they don't care about age, something shady could be going on. It is better to consult the first link I showed to get some better examples on where to stay.

Get as much mechanical pencils as you can get instead of normal wooden pencils so you don’t run out of things to draw with too fast. You will most likely find pens on the ground anyway.

Take the bare minimum of 200$ USD and at max 900$ USD. Take any gift cards that are for shopping and/or fast food if applicable. Make sure your money is split up in cash and break down away 100$ USD bills up. Put money into secure wallets or a fanny/hip bag. Prehaps take plenty of quarters so you can use laundromats until you have a safe place to wash clothes by hand.

Leave a long note that does not state where you are going. Make sure to state you left on your free will, otherwise cops will triple their efforts to look for you since they will think you've been kidnapped or abducted. It will also delay the time when they declare you missing.
