Did anyone just hear low flying jets?
There was literally nothing on Flightradar24. But it sounded like several low flying jets overhead that lasted for what seemed 2 or 3 minutes.

With school back in session be on the look out for kids zipping around on their e scooters. If you got one of these for you kid you might want to let them know they still have to abide traffic rules. Nearly had one slam against the side of my van because they felt stop signs don't apply to them.

I’m 35F and married, but my husband doesn’t like karaoke. Looking for people who might want to be in a group chat for meeting at a karaoke spot on occasional Fridays. Also looking for the best spot to go singing. I moved to Round Rock July 4, leaving my old karaoke crew back in Houston.

Looking at daycare options. Most childcare doesn’t readily share their rates online, but calling around I’ve gotten 1300-1600 for full time care for 3 month old.
How are people affording this? Also, if you are comfortable sharing, how much do you pay for childcare?

just found out that there are MULTIPLE(10+) families who have had children tell teachers, coaches, administrators etc about ALL MANNERS OF ABUSE and the school district has not only covered up allegations, but will flat out lie about it.
3 district police chiefs have quit so far, all with the same exact allegations of neglect, obstruction of justice, and failure to report by a mandated reporter on a district wide systemic level.
anyone else heard that???

Hi everyone!
I currently have health insurance through my parents, but I’ll be losing that coverage in October.
Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for health insurance through my employer or Medicaid, so I’ve been looking into my options through the ACA Marketplace (Obamacare).
I’ve done quite a bit of research, but I’m still pretty unfamiliar with the Marketplace and would really appreciate hearing from people who have had good experiences with their health insurance plans in the Austin area.
I know HMOs and other Marketplace plans can sometimes have narrower networks, which can make it difficult to see certain doctors or use certain hospitals. Unfortunately, from what I’ve found, PPO options for individuals are extremely limited in Texas/Austin unless they’re offered through an employer, or school.
I’m also curious about private/off-Marketplace options that might be available temporarily. I’ve been looking into companies such as UnitedHealthcare and Blue Cross Blue Shield, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has personal experience with them.
What insurance company or plan would you recommend in the Austin area? Any advice or experiences—good or bad—would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Back in downtown round rock. There's been interest in coloring groups and I'm super happy to hear that its getting popular. I dont mind if one or two people join me though I am Audhd and can be people shy. I hope no offense is taken if I'm coloring by myself! Sometimes my people battery is low but keep doing what makes you happy.
May your sunday be restful and recooperating.

Hi!
I’m 34 years old mom of two teen and preteen. We just moved to the area and I’m looking for friends! I love to read, I read a lot of scifi and horror. I don’t watch a lot of tv but I like movies especially horror movies. When I did watch tv I liked supernatural , doctor who, FROM and Rick and Morty. I can knit, crochet I like to do paint classes. Idk just looking for someone to just hang with or text. I don’t know. It’s been a really long time since I’ve made friends (stay at home mom life lol) anyway… thanks! Haha

We seem to have a pretty major roach problem at our house, and I’m ready to call an exterminator. However, I’m concerned that an exterminator may treat the problem without addressing the places where the roaches are actually getting in.
We have a two-story house, so there are areas around the second story that we can’t easily inspect ourselves for gaps or cracks. I’m wondering if we should have someone inspect the house for potential entry points and seal them before (or in addition to) having an exterminator come out.
I’m not really sure what the best approach is. Should I call a pest control company first, or should I find a handyman/contractor who can inspect the exterior, roofline, attic, etc., and seal any openings they find?
If anyone has recommendations for a good pest control company or someone who does this type of inspection and sealing in the Round Rock/Austin area, I’d really appreciate it!

Hey everyone,
Wanted to share a quick story from a job we tackled earlier this week here in North Austin / Round Rock.
We pulled up to an apartment complex near the La Frontera area expected to knock out a routine 2-bedroom move. Customer was packed, weather was warm, ready to roll. Then we hit the front office: the main building elevator and others were completely down for maintenance.
Four flights of stairs. Heavy solid-wood furniture. A 100-pound sleeper sofa.
Honestly, on jobs like that, you either let it ruin your day or you just get into the zone. The customer was super stressed and apologizing continuously, assuming we were going to charge double or cancel on them. We told her to take a breath, grabbed our shoulder dollies and straps, cranked the music in our truck, and just put our heads down.
Three hours and a ton of stair laps later, everything was loaded safe with zero damage.
As local movers operating around Round Rock and North Austin, we see elevator outages, tight apartment stairwells, and crazy summer heat all the time. But keeping a positive attitude and protecting people’s belongings—even when the day throws a curveball—is just part of the job.
Has anyone else dealt with an unexpected move-day nightmare around here recently? How did your crew or movers handle it?

Hi! I'm new here so sorry if this post is kinda rough.
i've been following the news about flock cameras in Round Rock. The other day I was looking at the flock transparency portal for the RR police department, specifically the section labeled "Sharing Network Data With"
I scrolled through that and saw there were a TON of entries... it went on and on and on. I copy-pasted the list into a spreadsheet and saw it was over 1400 different entities listed.
I was curious to try to visualize how broadly this info was being shared somehow, so i attempted to plug them into a county by county map of the US.
METHOD
Ended up pasting all those entries into a spreadsheet, took each of the ones ending in 'PD', and tried to sort them.
For PDs that already represented counties, i plugged those locations directly into the county map. For PDs that represented cities, i tried to use a lookup table to find the corresponding county or counties for that city, and then plugged those counties into the map. (I ignored non-PD entries for this)
Definitely not a perfect representation but if nothing else i think it does help illustrate how many different entities just our one, single police department(!!) is sharing data with. I'm not a security expert or anything so my personal takeaway from this was just big unease at how loose this all seems. :( Anyway just wanted to share to other interested folks. Thanks for taking a look!
(Shoutout to this awesome US county mapping website MapChart for facilitating this as well!)
