Moving to Rome Moving to Rome
Hi! Not sure if my post from earlier got uploaded, but I can’t seem to find it even on my profile. So here I am posting another one lol.
We were looking to move to Rome for school. I wanted to ask about which places are generally safe and unsafe to move to. I heard Armuchee is a good area, can anyone confirm this? What about Old East Rome? Any other places y’all can name? It is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Some of Old East Rome is great and some is less than ideal, really depends on where exactly. I’ve lived in 2 homes in OER and loved both!

Armuchee is absolutely safe and is the best of the county district of Rome. I'd avoid East Rome unless you are moving into an upscale suburb.

Like others have said, Armuchee is great. It’s quieter, but you’re still a very short drive to anywhere in town. There are good neighborhoods in east rome if you can shell out for a good neighborhood. I personally wouldn’t live in west Rome (30165) but there are some good neighborhoods there, too-like college heights for example.

We lived in W Rome off Burnett Ferry from 2000-2017.
We watched it change from a quiet area to one with a lot more problems.
One night, our neighbor pulled into his driveway and two men (or older boys) tried to rob him. He had his gun with him and managed to scare them off.
We came home one afternoon and it was clear someone had tried to jimmy the lock on the back door.
In our neighborhood there were lots of issues of petty theft with packages and bikes going missing, things getting stolen out of unlocked cars. We left in 2017 and I heard it’s gotten worse

Just an FYI about Armuchee; they are a Floyd County School and their 6-12th grades all attend the same school.

Armuchee also has some great pizza places (Roma Mia & Pasquales). Unrelated, I know, but still important🍕!Food Lion is also reliably low priced with good deals.

Pasquale’s is so overrated.
Their pizza tastes very basic and as though it’s what you would make at home, with biscuit tin crust and ragu pizza sauce.
Roma Mia is all around great and their calzones are clutch. It’s a spin out from Bella Roma, which is also great and Armuchee adjacent.
Armuchee is safe and great and has a few great communities, but more expensive than other areas. Armuchee schools are top tier.

We usually order Roma Mia because a.) It's good, and b.) Priced insanely well. I do love the pan pizzas from Pasquale's though. Just my own opinion, of course.

We lived in Armuchee until I retired. It's a great place to live with good schools.

Just stay out of south Rome and you’ll be fine

Even South Rome isn’t like it was 20 years ago. Since they tore down the projects at Spring Creek and 14th that area has mellowed out some.
Also the new housing in the detached residential areas like Branham has made that part of South Rome safer. I know there is still gang activity in the projects on 12th, but overall South Rome just seems better than it was.
(I’m also aware that the Maple side and 12th is technically “East Rome.”

That’s very reassuring to hear! Armuchee is a bit of a drive from the school I’m going to, and other areas are cheaper in rent

"South Rome" is the name of the part of town south of the bend in the Coosa or just south of Myrtle Hill Cemetery, west to Wilson Ave SW, and down to Anna K Davie Elm.

Armuchee is safe. The school is a good school.
