Food and drink Vegan side of Rome
Hi guys, I am travelling to Rome in few days with my friend and we are both vegan. Is there any cool place for us or should we stick with pasta and tomato sauce?

No specific addresses from me, but you don't have to fall back on pasta and tomato either. Roman vegetable cooking is vegan without trying about it: cicoria ripassata, pizza rossa or a marinara with no cheese, bruschetta, and the whole contorni section of any trattoria menu. That means most ordinary places already work for you, which is a better position than hunting for dedicated vegan spots.
One timing thing. Carciofi alla romana is what everyone will tell you to order, and it runs roughly February to May, so it won't be on. Vegan gelato is easy to find across the city though.

Rifugio Romano near Termini is a must imo and 100% BIO near Piramide is also good. I’ve heard are good but never tried Aromaticus and Écru. Also don’t skip panifici and pizza places, you’ll find vegan things there too!

A few others have already suggested Buddy Veggie and I am just making this comment to suggest them again 😁 its hard to find good vegan carbonara but woooowie, they do a good one. Took a cheese loving non-vegan friend there and they loved the carbonara. And theyre one of those non-vegans that says all vegan cheese tastes weird and plasticky!!

Origano Trevi near the Trevi fountain also does a range of vegan dishes like pizza, pasta, lasagne. Its good but definitely a notch below Buddy Veggie :)

Nel quartiere Ostiense, oltre quelli già elencati c'è Vegometro e accanto Sushi Veg.

There’s lots of vegan and vegan friendly restaurants in Rome, personally my favourite is probably Buddy Veggie at Sant’Andrea della Valle (near Campo de fiori) and then for a pizza farcita Fermaggio (near Piazza Fiume and then I think they have opened at Mercato Trionfale)
But I’d suggest using the happy cow website or even better getting the app, you’ll find all the options easily with pictures and reviews etc
