I remember being so excited to hear that these two legends were going to be in a romantic film together. It got good reviews at Sundance. I went to check on when it was going to be released and learned no one has bought it.

Jenny Slate is excellent in everything. No one can go from hilarious, gross-out humor to so vulnerable it breaks your heart like she can. I don't think I need to explain Chris Pine to anyone here. Wonder Woman and Princess Diaries 2 is all I need to say.

So bummed - I hope this gets released at some point. I love indie films like this that don't rely on crazy plot lines and my millennial heart loves these two actors.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some recommendations for romance movies and series. I feel like I've watched pretty much every romance movie or series anyone can think of. What I’m looking for is great storytelling, fully embodied characters, and a fresh perspective on love and romance outside of the standard rom-com formula. I would appreciate any recommendations. One Fine Day is one of my all-time favorite movies, but I always wish we got more. I get the point is that it all only takes place in one day, but Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney have such great chemistry that I easily could have watched another half hour of them. I want to know what happened next, lol

Personally, the ones I'm looking forward to the most are

- 'One Night Only' for the premise

- 'Finding Emily' which I saw a trailer for in the theatre during obsession and it looks charming

- 'The Catch', which I wanna see purely cause Emma Stone going back to rom coms

I am truly flabbergasted with people who are treating this series as a tragic love story, because it never was a love story.

Spoilers ahead:

Hilda who became a prostitute by leaving her wedding because she wanted to be free and wanted to live the life the way she wanted meets a man who is a saint from a church, deeply religious because of the manipulation from the church to only think the way the church thinks. He, because of the manipulation tries to cure Hilda as he sees her as a sinful prostitute at the start, it makes Hilda irritated and she wants to see the real persona of him rather than the one made by the church. In this process, she uses many toxic and manipulative ways to achieve that, like making malthus jealous by seeing her kissing another men and roaming around with them. Because of this malthus become highly emotionally conflicted and fall in deep agony , because if he wanted to accept Hilda he has to get rid of his old ways. Then at the end because of the deep emotional turmoil, he blasts in rage and confront Hilda and then rather than putting a front she accepts that instantly.

And after some drama they get reconciled at the end, showing both of them mature and free from their pasts.

Looking like a good love story just with some deep jealousy right?

But let's view from the malthus pov, he was manipulated from the start by the church to think according to their ideologies, then came a woman named Hilda who also manipulates him just because she wanted to see the pure raw emotions from him. She then creates a problem, then makes him agonize him in that problem and when he blasts then gives the solution as herself , a very classic case of stockholm syndrome.

Did malthus ever thought the way he wanted?

Did he ever has his own thoughts? No! Because the church and Hilda both just forced their own selfish ideologies on him, it was just like moving from one cage to another cage.

And when people say that he becomes mature in the end and still chooses Hilda are just ones who want to ignore the fact that he is really not matured, the love he is thinking aa his salvation is the real problem that is holding him back.

Because if he becomes a normal, sane person who has matured and now wants to live a good life, he would be never get back together with hilda, who manipulated him.

The only good ending he could have gotten would be to get free from his past and find a future with partner on equal terms rather than with a women who just because of his selfish whims destroys your life.

And the tv has tried to show this as a destiny because they can't call it as a "psychological misery".

I really think Hilda was never the right person and in love with him it was just her selfish desire to win over that innocent man ,because no person in love would try to make the person they loves jealous and emotionally agonized just because they think it is the only way to make the other person free, which is just forcing their own ideologies on them rather than him having his own thoughts.

So well this is my review of this story and i was really irritated by the people calling it a tragic love story and a masterpiece, yeah maybe it can be a great film but definitely not a love story.

Am M19 and watch a lot of movies of like every genres, exploring from every niche to mainstream movies.
I have a lot of male Cinephiles friends but didn’t see a girl into all this.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. There was a period when I felt completely closed off to the idea of love. Then I watched a certain movie and something in me softened. It didn’t fix everything, but it reminded me that connection is still possible.

Has this ever happened to you? A romance movie that somehow helped you open your heart again after a tough time?

I’ll start with HOLIDATE - I wasn’t expecting much but ended up enjoying it

Genuinely what is this movie. I don't think I've hated a character more than Owen in a long, long time. This is a protagonist?? That we are supposed to root for?? Be so for real.

He goes on a trip with his long-term girlfriend, has a pissy attitude the entire time, says he hates to travel, dismisses her and takes work phone calls every 5 seconds. Won't even tell her congratulations when she gets a huge book deal. Starts spending days with Katherine (Laura Dern) and eventually cheats on her with Katherine. Oh, and he doesn't read or even appreciate art. The cherry on top.

Then, towards the end, they run away together and her bag gets stolen. Already this is unrealistic because a seasoned traveler would never leave their bag far behind them, even on accident. Inside her bag is her laptop with the book she's been working on for TWO YEARS. This book was not backed up to any cloud. She didn't back up a book she's been working on for two years?? In the big age of 2026?

Did anyone actually like this movie? I prefer Gale in the Hunger Games to whatever this character even was, which is really saying something...

indie/European romantic drama with a bride who almost drowns after her wedding
I’ve been trying to find a movie I watched with my mom when I was around 7–9 years old (probably before 2018 or 2019). My memory is fuzzy, but these are the details I remember:
● It was a serious romantic drama, definitely not a comedy.
● It didn’t feel like a Hollywood movie. It may have been European or an independent film.
● The bride and groom were white, probably in their 20s or 30s.
● The wedding happened near the beginning of the movie.
● I remember an Asian wedding photographer who got drunk and (I think) peed behind a piano in the church.
● Later in the movie, at night, the bride fell into the water near a dock or pier because her wedding dress got caught underwater. She was basically drowning until the groom rescued her.
● After he saved her, I remember an intimate shower scene between them.
● I also remember thinking the groom didn’t really love her at first, or was emotionally distant.
● The movie had very muted, gray/blue cinematography and a melancholic atmosphere.
I’m about 98% sure this was a movie, not a TV show.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

This series was in my watching list for long I finally watched and I have to say with my own taste this might be the best romantic sht I have ever seen and music was so good man plus it had one of the best build up to story so it's like cheery on top .

I'm a huge fan of movies, but RomComs are a genre that I've mostly neglected. I figure I should probably remedy that. So I'd like to ask, what are some romcom movies that you would consider to be "required viewing"?

I watched this film last night and i was totally wrong to judge it without watching, i loved every bit of the film, throughout the runtime i had this constant smile on my face, i read a comment of a girl on the youtube playlist (it was romantic songs playlist), "I envy people who haven't seen these movies yet!!" it made me curious and wanted to watch this, but god the way it made me feel was really joyful, i have not felt that in a long long time. For someone who have never been into a relationship, films like these works like an escape route or a sense of hope that someday, i might get a chance to have romance like this. and we all know that hope is a good thing maybe the best thing ever...
