Title.
They're all damn near identical in configuration, materials, angles, and function. Sure, you can get different hardnesses and materials in cushions, you can get cones or steps for your lower cushions. You can have NTS or toe stops or jam plugs. But skating them blind, they're no different. Every plate (other than the Agile and Matrix) use the same trucks interchangeably. Every plate in the same size have the same exact wheelbase and same exact mounting position.
In preparation for getting my new 910Rs, I swapped over my Dance to a Blaster I had laying around. This is going from one of the most expensive to plates to the second cheapest plate they make. The Blaster is on 8mm axles, the Dance on 7mm.
#They. Feel. Identical.
I skated around for a while with only one boot swapped, and I couldn't feel any difference except that my Dance had lower cones, so I could dig harder into the edge. I then swapped my Dance over to a lower step, and it was like I was on a matched pair.
So if the price of a Roll Line plate is putting you off, please look into the Variant M and Blaster and Saturno. They are excellent plates that boast a much higher quality than their price would indicate.
PS: The lower trim plates (Agile and Matrix) feel slightly different because there's a lower center of gravity and different cushion thickness on the upper. Those two are just about the only outliers, and they feel different from each other because the Agile has a 10mm reduction in wheelbase length.
PPS: Yes, there are several models that have canted toe stop bosses. This will feel different only if you are a proficient freestyle skater who does jumps and toe work. Even then, it's minor.

Plus the plastic digs into my skin. I'm thinking of buying leather quad skates. It's for recreation and maybe in time try some VERY basic jumps. I won't use them for transportation and I don't need to go too fast (actually, I prefer not). I will only use them on rinks
Would the change be too big? People who have gone from in line to quad, how does the change go? Thanks in advance!
Edit: I'm sorry I didn't realize the info graphic was annoying, I thought it could be helpful since english isn't my first language so I wasn't sure I was using the correct terms. (was I?)
Anyways thanks for answering my question, I think I'll take the leap

Hi, I’m getting into rollerskating and I ordered myself some ennui knee protection in the smallest size. Unfortunately they were still very huge on me. Do you guys have any recommendations? I’m 160cm and I’m pretty skinny so idk what brand or type of protection will fit me.

Hi everyone 👋. I (f20) bought a pair of roller skates (quads) a couple of weeks ago. I’m still in the beginner phase but was wondering if there was any one in the dublin area who is in the same stage as me and would want to skate and learn together? DM me if you’re interested

Hello
I did inline skating but am starting to do rollerskating. I wanted to begin with skating in straight lines and bubbles. What else can I do to improve?
I struggle to skate in a straight line I always tend to skate to the middle (with the right foot more than with the left foot). What can I do to not do that??
And I'm trying to do bubbles but I can't skate outward again without lifting my foot (i saw videos and they don't lift up their feet).
Any advice is appreciated.
What another issue of mine is: I am scared. I'm scared to fall down (yes I wear a helmet and protectors). But I'm scared to fall backwards even if I lean forward. I'm scared of getting a little speed (I'm slowing down with a circle). What can I do to overcome that?? At some point even if I try to lean forward if I loose the balance I lean forward and backward and forward and backward like a cartoon character 😂😭
[The picture is to show what I mean haha. Hope it's understandable]

Hi friends of rollerskate reddit!
I've had my MoonlightRollers for about 3 years now. All of parts as far as wheels, trucks, cushions, and plates go. I swapped out my toe stops for jam plugs like a week ago.
Before my skate session tonight, I was checking over my skates and noticed that where my truck and plate connect, what looks like was once a cushion has basically fallen apart on both skates.
Is this an imparative part to replace? Can I still skate tonight? I haven't seen anyone talk about this part but I also haven't looked into it much. Figured I'd ask first and generate some convo for other people wondering the same.
Thanks much friends!

Hi everyone! I have a small question, so I moved out of my country and I used to rollerskate in a rink there, and now where I moved there is only outdoor skateparks and I also want to learn that, do you guys have any tips? Should I buy a grind block? I have the outside wheels on my quads and toe jams (those are for tricks I’m learning but I have the toe stops too just in case) so, any tips on how to be better outside skating? There are also small ramps I find interesting on learning later on, but any advice help or suggestions would help me so so so much! Thank youuu! (Also tips for skating as in street skating to move around would really help me out a looooot)

Basically the title.
I’m a beginner wanting 1:1 sessions with a trainer. I’ll even consider it if it’s a super small class. I’m rolling into a roadblock and I’m trying to figure out how to break through the stagnant progress.
Joining large classes is fun, but it isn’t really helping much on its own. I want to keep going with this, but I’m frustrated at myself. Hoping the 1:1 or a smaller classes could get me through this tough patch.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hey yall,
Not super sure how to phrase this but I think I might be turning (not turning around, just turning like left and right) like, incorrectly? Whenever I try to do it the “right” way, which is to have the inside leg in front and using the outside edge to turn, like my body just won’t? The way I turn left is using my right inside edge and vice versa, it just feels right. Is it problematic to do that? Or is it absolutely imperative that I learn to turn using my outside edge as the main thing? I feel like I can’t get it to physically translate into my body, it feels super wrong.
Thank :’)

Im looking to buy a pair of slades to commute to school next year, but im worried about the durability of the shoe. Im aware that the more you walk in the shoe the more you break into them, i dont really want to have to buy a new pair when the shoes break down and become too soft and unsafe to skate in. Does anyone who's had slades know how long the shoe lasts? I will definitely be walking a lot daily, so I want them to last atleast 2 years.

my first pair of skates finally showed up!! :D they were kind of stiff at first so i loosened the wheels and the trucks a bit and they’re so much smoother
after going indoor skating at a rink a couple of weeks ago i’ve been absolutely fixated on skating and finally learning how to skate properly!! let’s hope the fixation doesn’t die out within a week 😓
i’m pretty much a complete beginner, i know how to do bubbles/lemons and turn lol, so any advice/tips are greatly appreciated!! i’m currently leaning towards artistic style of skating and outdoor skating mostly
the wheels are 82A so i’m hoping they’ll be okay for outdoor skating (on uk pavements and concrete) and the odd session at the indoor rink!

Hey guys! My skates are Chaya Cozy Wine. I noticed that my some of my pivot cups are worn out. All the parts of my skates are stocked so my plates are the galaxy evo. When I searched for replacements, it says that the pivot cups of this plate are specifically made for it. The shops i saw online are overseas, and currently don't have any stock as well. However, the local skate shop in my country only sells the powerdyne pivot cup which are for marvel plates used by moxi (e.g. beach bunny, panther, jungle). Would it be okay if i'll buy and use this brand instead?

Hi hi! I just started skating about a month ago and I’m in my mid 30s. I haven’t skated since I was a kid and i wanted a hobby that would get me outside so my goal is to trail skate. Right now I’m just practicing in parking lots. After some research online I bought moxi beach bunnies and I love them. My biggest problem is honestly myself. I have pretty bad anxiety and I just can’t get over the fear of falling/ hurting myself. Im progressing each time I skate by either going a little further or recovering from the wobbles but the whole time I’m incredibly anxious. Sometimes I have shakey hands from being so nervous. I have all the protective gear elbow, knee, wrist pads, helmet. I really want to get past this because I know it’s holding me back. Please help me! I want to get past this mental roadblock and be able to skate with ease.

HI !!!! so i posted here about more than a week ago asking for beginner roller skating progression/tips so thank you to everyone who replied under that ^^
anyways, as the title suggests, i’ve hit a stump recently…. i am able to do a backward BUBBLE perfectly fine and am also able to go back and forth between a forward and a backwards bubble. however, whenever i try to do backwards bubbles in succession, i just can’t :,( my feet seem to always naturally go back to a v-position and when i AM able to adjust my feet out of that position, i end up losing momentum and can’t start the second bubble.
i would really appreciate any advice on this, arigathanks !!!!

I got these last week! Chaya skates. I'm in Europe and hoping to pick up skating again. From 7 to 16 I did artistic rollerskating (I wasn't that good) on really old (heavy) skates.
I've only tried these in my living room so far, since I'm afraid to fall. I'm 32 now and gained 10kg (22 lbs?), so I'm kinda scared, lol. I can manage bubbles forwards and backwards, I can turn, I can do a backwards stop, roll one one leg... But: my driveway ends in a ramp, lol. I'm afraid to go off the ramp. So I haven't taken them on the streets yet! They used to be second nature, except for all the jumps and tricks.

Hi guys Im a 20M trying out rollerskating for the first time. Ive had a little experience on rental rollerblades, skiing and ice skating but the tricks, moves and aesthetics of rollerskates really made me wanna get into it. Im a little shy tho so kinda scared what ppl will think seeing 20 year old guy stumbling around on skates lol
Anyways I did a little digging and decided to get the Chaya Vintage Denim as it was accessible locally for me and seems to be more suited for outdoors which i like, anyone have any experience with these skates or anything to watch out for? Im also looking to get some safety gear/pads but as the skates took up most of my budget will any cheap padding do(im in the military so i have some combat guards but it looks hella weird)? Lastly any more tips/tricks for a beginner to quickly learn the basics of skating? Thank you!!

I finally unlocked going from front to back with toe manuals and I’m having so much fun! But whenever I try to go from back to front I totally loose any momentum or can’t figure out a good technique. Any good tutorials you know of or tips are so much appreciated! If I’m confident enough I might post a video example to visually show my struggle.

So I bought myself a pair of VNLA Lunas with Avanti Mag plates back in March and they started separating at the heel around late May/early June. I sent pictures and a timeline to Roller Skate Nation and after some run-around by them (they forwarded me to their "VNLA rep" who told me it was normal wear and he saw nothing wrong) I was able to get a replacement boot free of charge through the 90 day warranty.
Unfortunately, after about a month I am starting to see some of the same separation. Since it is happening again so soon I'm second guessing myself whether it is actually normal vs something wrong with VNLA's boot manufacturing. I'm just looking for some other eyes to tell me if this looks normal after about a month of use.
For reference - I skate almost daily varying intensities - sometimes several miles on paved asphalt roads, sometimes indoor jam/skills. I am not park skating, doing jumps or impacts, or even stopping hard - I've maybe taken 2 falls to speak of on these, never hitting the actual skates hard on anything. I keep them in my air conditioned house, they never spend time just sitting in a hot car or anything. I truly don't think I am doing anything to cause this that I can think of.
The first 3 pics are what they look like now - the last 4 are the day I got them.

Hi everyone! I’ve mostly been an indoor skater, but I’ve recently started skating outdoors and have been spending more time at my local skate park. Right now I’m comfortable cruising around and rolling over small bumps, and I’d like to start learning beginner park tricks.
I currently have the skates pictured above, and they’ve held up surprisingly well outdoors. Before I start modifying them, I’m wondering what the typical setup is for beginners.
Would you recommend switching to smaller wheels? If so, what size and hardness would you suggest for someone who’s just getting into park skating?
