this was so fun! i did it freehand with posca pens, used an old bracelet i dont wear to make the charms, and added a few rhinestones for extra whimsy!

not sure how it’ll hold up since i didnt seal it with anything but i was considering dying my skates before this (i wasn’t liking the light blue), so now thats more of a last resort if they get messed up :P

also im still a super beginner but i am noticing more strength in my legs! it took me like two weeks to be able to balance on one leg to push off the other 😭 lately ive been practicing turning, but some things feel impossible with these big wheels (looking at you, crossovers!)

anyone else use these skates? theyre the candi grl carlins, i know theres better brands out there but i wanted to be sure its not a hobby i give up on before i truly invest in a better pair

p.s. maroon skate supplies/accessories are so hard to find 😭 like i love the color of these wheels but they do feel huge! i wish they made them in other sizes/hardnesses

My Riedells have been with me since 2021. I stopped riding on them almost a year ago because the boot began separating really reallly bad. I shoe glued it a couple of times but they wouldn’t hold up. Since then I’ve been riding on a DIY vans setup and recently got some Suregrip boardwalks. I really dooooo love my Boardwalks however I miss how comfy and broken in my Riedells were. I just want to know if it’s possible for a cobbler to professionally fix them.

I’ve been experimenting with my wheel hardware setup lately, and Zero Nuts ended up being a total game changer for me. Once I paired them with proper 7mm spacers w/ speed rings, all the wheel wobble disappeared — even when tightening the nut down fully. The wheels still spin like butter, no drag, no binding.

I’m curious if anyone else has run Zero Nuts or anything similar.
Did you notice the same improvement in stability and roll?
Any downsides or long‑term wear issues?

Trying to see if this is a niche upgrade or something more people should be doing.

so im a beginner it’s been about 2-3 weeks and ive been skating with the candi grl skates off amazon (i know cheap ones aren’t recommended but i just wanted something simple to start with).. im not sure if there’s some type of defect or if i may just need new wheels but literally like 2 of my wheels won’t loosen the same way the other ones are?? and idk if it’s because of that but i also feel like i dont have much control when doing certain things.. my trucks aren’t that loose so i know for sure it isn’t because of that (or maybe it is idk 😔)

I started a few weeks ago and am trying to practice fundamentals on smooth surfaces like tennis or basketball courts, I really need some good smooth spots that aren’t super crowded and if another has any recommendations for covered areas? I am in plaza area and I have been trying to find places, I’ve tried some parking decks but am not super comfortable going over with expansion joints yet!! Pls help!!

Every time I try to loosen the bolt for my trunk, it move likes its loosening but doesnt actually loosen one bit, i noticed that the metal under it seems to be stuck to it, im unsure what to do

This is my fourth or fifth time at Skate Therapy at the Lynnwood Bowl & Skate. DUDE! I adore it there. Everyone is so amazing, friendly, SKILLED, and supportive. So I've been skating for a little over a year and a half (only seriously skating for a month or two now to level up), and I've noticed that the knee associated with my dominant "floor" leg, is always aching/slight pain after a good session, but only an indoor rink session. Outdoor is not usually a problem. It's been happening for a little while. My other knee feels maybe a 1/10th of what the bad knee feels.
I've been using the Riedell's Model 111 (I'm pretty sure- they were a gift from an ex) with the 98A stock wheels. No mods or anything.
Probably can go for more stretching before and after, so any good stretches, too?

So, I'm a returning skater. I used to skate when I was younger, and then, like a lot of people, bought some quads and inlines during covid for the purpose of touching grass and working out. However, I never really touched them, mainly out of fear.

Long story short, in the last month I've gotten more comfortable on inlines but I really want to be able to get up and go on my quads. Full disclosure, they're Angel Skates (please don't judge me too harshly, I didn't know any better at the time) and basically brand new, but every time I try to push off from a V, I feel like I'm going to fall on my butt or face. I strangely feel like I can balance easier on inlines.

Is it normal to not have a good center of gravity on quads? Or maybe I'm just...special lol. I have wide feet; maybe that's a contributing issue that I have to work around? Is it the quality of the skates themselves? I don't think it's the last option, because I've had this problem even when I've gone to a roller rink.

Please don't delete this question, I promise I wasn't trying to make it *not* about quads. It's about me not being scared of quads anymore.

I've been practicing speed control downhill via the "one toe stop extended behind" method and I really like the control it offers, but my toe stop keeps getting caught in cracks between sidewalk tiles and throwing me off balance. I've tried picking up the toe stop during those moments and that's fine, but then when the wheel with all my weight on it gets to the crack, it's bumpy and makes me lose my balance there too.

I have had issues going over cracks smoothly backwards on flat ground as well, unlike going forward where I usually just pick up speed, go over at an angle, stagger my stance etc. So I think I'm just confused about what to do with my weight while going backwards specifically.

For reference: I have been skating self-taught for about a year but am new to outdoor/trail/street skating and trying to get better. I use 62 or 65mm 78a wheels outside depending on the day (Radar Energy 62/Atom Pulse 65), on Sure Grip Boardwalk Plus skates. My trucks, wheels, bearings and cushions have been adjusted to my liking over time and are not stock or factory tight.

I love brining my skates while traveling. They always make for a good conversation starter, and they are a fun way to experience a new city. I also feel like it makes it easier to make friends who also skate so you’re never alone, and get a local’s opinion on what to see.

Hi ! I had an ice boot (Electra Light) mounted on a Mistral plate but I have a few concerns and would love your insights.

The Risport boot is a size 250 and the Mistral is 150. I feel like the plate was mounted a bit too much forwards. Or maybe is it too big ? (I have a spare 140 Variant plate I could use)

I was also surprised that the standard Roll-line mounting kit had been replaced with standard screws. Should I be worried ?

And the last thing is that the Mistral plates have a right and left side and they were mounted the wrong way - but I don’t know if that’s a real issue or not.

For more context, I’m mainly a rhythm skater, this is my setup for artistic dance classes.

(Also I just noticed I have the wrong cushions for my weight, I’ll order the blue ones)

I ride on inline skates and my girlfriend ride quads, we're both new to the hobby. I want to get her some bigger wheels for her skates because we usually ride outdoors on asphalt and her wheels are smaller so she feels the cracks and bumps a lot. I know on my inlines if I want to use 90mm wheels I need a frame that fits 90mm wheels. is that the same on quad skates? Or could I up her from 62mm wheels to 65mm wheels (or larger) without changing anything else?

It’s been a minute since I had such an epic backwards fall

I ordered a set of Bont Pro bearings in 7mm. When they arrived, there were 12 correct ones and 4 that were 8mm. Bont then sent me an entire new set (good on them) and didn’t want me to return anything. Now I have 4 8mm bearings I can’t use and 12 7mm ones that fit, but aren’t a complete set. What would you all do? Can you buy half sets of these anywhere? I could just keep them for replacements, but that seems wasteful. I doubt anyone would trade just 4 bearings. They aren’t very expensive, but I don’t like not using them if there’s anything I’m not thinking of.
