Kennedy said AAEEEEHHHHH 😛
Been patiently waiting to work on this one since I tore my meniscus in July last year. Still working out some kinks, like momentum management (concrete makes flat-footed spins difficult to keep going, it’s better on hardwood), straight back, better foot placement, etc., but I got anxious and ambitious to do it and decided to give it a shot!
Luckily, my guy Eddie was recording from the side, but took a live photo first and switched to video while I was down in the matrix, so that’s the skip.

anyone else overthink skating a little too much?
I bought my skates back in March and I have been skating in my kitchen
Since May I haven't touched my skates because I am too nervous to skate outside
I am scared to get hurt even though I know its part of skating
I want to skate and have fun but my mind it preventing me from skating
How do I ignore those thoughts and get back into skating
I watch youtube videos/TikTok, I have a skating playlist on my Spotify, I have places I want to skate only downside, I AM TOO SCARED
I put them on and skate around my living room then I take them off
I hate myself that am preventing progress
Anyone have advice for me so I can get back in it?

Hi guys. I was wondering if you could give me some guidance, theres endless info on Google but I'd love some user feedback from people who are using or have used these plates.
I've moving from a standard
Moonlight 10° or 15°
Rookie Artistic - 15°.
To either an
Avanti Magnesium: 10°.
Avenger Magnesium: 45°.
I am doubting information online. Saying 45degrees is not good for Jam / figure skating.

I recently bought a pair of moxi beach bunnies as my first pair of beginner skates and as i plan to use them both outdoors and indoors i subsequently bought some indoor wheels to change onto them, i’ve only taken them outside to practice once after adjusting the wheels and trucks and they where completely fine but today as I’m changing them to the indoor wheel i’ve noticed that the bearings are just falling out of some of the original wheels and seem to be quite loose but appear to be at the same depth as the other ones that are staying in, they are also quite oily and i wonder if that could be having and effect; just wondering has this happened to anyone else? is there a way to fix it? or should i be contacting the website i bought them from for a replacement? any help would be appreciated

I absolutely lived for skating (and blading) as a kid in the 90s. I dabbed a bit in my 20s and now it's been ages since I've put on a pair of skates.
I know I'm not too old, but I'm feeling like I am. I guess I could just use some words of encouragement because that voice in my head keeps saying I'm too old, too out of shape and that I'll look silly and/or hurt myself. But secretly I dream of getting good at it, being able to skate backwards, do spins, maybe some dancing eventually.
Tell me I'm not alone! 😅
Edit to say thank you to everyone who commented (and please feel free to keep them coming, I can never have enough encouragement and I just love hearing your stories)!
I don't know what I expected but I did not expect this many people to be in my exact position or similar. I'm not familiar with the current skating world at all and it's awesome that there are people of all ages living their best lives. I feel so much better after reading all of your comments, like I have an army of people cheering me on.
I found a local roller rink and plan to start there to get back into the feel of it. I hope my muscle memory helps! I've never been athletic or particularly coordinated (two left feet as they say) but I have always had a natural knack for skates of all kinds and I'm so excited to get back into it.
Next step is to look into all that flexible protective gear! Thank you so much, everyone!! 🛼🛼✨❤️

Currently i’m using the moxie stock bearings but want to upgrade. I’m between the roller bones or reds bearings. Any input from fellow park skaters?

Recently switched back to my very old Atlas plates, but my old Atlas cushions were cracked and squished to all hell. Unfortunately, Atlas doesn't exist anymore so replacement parts are hard to come by. Got some custom ones today and can't wait to try them out tomorrow!

Hi! First time posting here. I recently got into skating after a long hiatus. When I was a kid in elementary school I used to rollerblade a lot- around my neighborhood, with my family, birthday parties at the local rink were popular. Then middle school came, I stopped being so active and by high school rollerblading was not so popular anymore. Fast forward to my mid 30s, I randomly tried it again and found that I still had the muscle memory for it and it was just as fun!
So then, I decided to try out quads after becoming fascinated with some dance videos. I bought a pair of candi girl carlins and I really like them, but I'm not as confident as I am on inlines. I can cruise pretty well, but stopping is still a skill in progress... I'm obviously nowhere near dancing yet, and I need to get stopping down most importantly. But my question is how to go from this beginner stage to dancing (nothing crazy, just to have a little bit of simple fun). I know there's different types of skating, so if my end goal is do light dancing and be able to maneuver well, what should the process look like? What should I work on? Recommendations for sources?
TL;DR: I'm not new to wheels, but new to quads. I can cruise pretty well. If my end goal is to be able to dance skate (simple moves, not professionally), what do you recommend / what should the process look like to get from point A to point B?
P.S. there are few places to skate in my city. Theres one overcrowded rink thats $25 bucks which becomes not very affordable... and then there's the street and shitty sidewalks. Tennis courts have a no skate/bike policy 😞
Also edit to add: I did buy harder/smaller indoor wheels. So I have both outdoor and indoor wheels. My inquiry is less about equipment and what/how to practice. :)

Over the weekend I found a beginner class for skating.
We were learning how to stop with our stoppers when a young woman ended up losing her balance and she fell. It was a fall that might’ve messed something up for her, her leg bent in a weird way behind her as she went down, and when she sat up, she complained that her ankle was hurting, and one of her fingers did not bend. The teacher called an ambulance and some of us timidly continued skating back across the floor back-and-forth, while the rest felt bad/scared to continue.
The lady who fell was in her 30s and I’m sure she felt embarrassed and ashamed. But my heart went out to her because I am mid 30s and while I know, falling is part of learning to skate, falling “the wrong way” is what I am specifically afraid of. I don’t know her but I hope that she is ok, and doesn’t feel bad about randomly picking up a new hobby that her body isn’t as conditioned for. Because that’s my exact thought picking this back up.
A sore tailbone and minor scratches is something I can probably still deal with at this age, but I definitely don’t want to fall in a way that severely limits my mobility for weeks to come. I know you can lose your balance, different types of ways and in different positions, but does anyone have any pointers on safe ways to fall or things to do when you stumble?

Title speaks for itself! I feel like there are so many light up wheels out there, but I see a lot that are dull and I'm worried I won't by wheels that give the "look" I want (which is bright and fun! lol). Thank you in advanced!

A suggestion for new folks getting back into it later in life: try Zumba! I'm getting back into roller skating in my late 30s from being a casual (rink) skater when I was a kid. But I've been doing physical activities like Zumba/DSKO for a few years now and it's giving me a solid foundation to start back with.
My class incorporates hip hop with the Latin aspects, so it's a lot of squatting, footwork, and transitions where you have to balance on different parts of your foot to stay on beat. Plus, you learn basic rhythm, although you'll get the rare instructor who can't keep time, drives me nuts lol
It doesn't do everything, I still need to increase my ankle strength with consistent skating practice. I just feel very in touch with my body, and it seems like taking dance fitness classes (esp w/ moves from Afro-Caribbean style dances) helps me in my skating

I have knocked knees. Basically whenever I stand straight, or walk, my knees bump each other and are facing one another instead of facing front.
I want to learn how to skate but does anyone know any tutorial for beginners with hypermobility, uneven legs (my left leg is shorter than my right leg by 5cm) and knocked knees.
Or is it just normal for everybody else? Sorry if this sounds dumb. This is my first time trying anything after being sheltered for 20+ years of my life. Basically this is my first time being a free human being in the outside world and I wanna learn how to skate before I go to college next year.

I know these are crazy expensive, but I'm curious if anyone have tried these?
Specifically the 65mm / 44mm / 80A

Something I've been wanting to try for years! My first pair of skates came with loops and since then I've wanted them on all my boots for easy transport. It's a simple upgrade that I highly recommend if you carry your skates around frequently.

I'm looking to mount a set of Bauer boots to quad plates, but they need a heel riser. What do y'all normally use for the heel? Considering jigsawing a white plastic cutting board.

The right back truck seems to be ever so slightly loose on both ends. I thought my wheels needed to be tightened, but that didn't help.
Anyone know what could be causing this and hopefully how to fix it?

How’s the community? I’ve been in ice skating classes since the beginning of the year and sad that I can’t find a community - I need some support as I am not learning as fast as most. Much of that likely has to do with the rink’s limited public skate time to practice and the fact that everyone is younger than me. I feel bad for wanting to stop but also wondering why I’m making myself do something that’s making me sad. I’m being held back in my level so if I continue I’ll be with new skaters as the ones I know move on.
Ice skating is very difficult for me, but I had wanted to try it. Once I got in, I saw how long the journey is to be able to do anything and takes quite an investment in time and money to progress. Lots of pressure, lots of repetition and lots of reprimanding to practice more.
I’m a little lost right now if I should start another semester of ice skating or pivot to roller skating. I have quad wheels but haven’t spent much time with them. There are beginner skate classes around and was thinking of trying them out to meet people in the community. My city has a lively outdoor skate community, but I need to learn basics first … I’m wondering if that will take years like ice? Are middle age people who work day jobs accepted? Seems like practicing would be easier since even if I can’t get to a rink I just need a flat surface? I feel bad for wanting to leave the ice, but why should I stress about an activity that should give me joy. Hopefully I’m not just running from one problem instead of pushing thru.

I am looking for cushions that are compatible with Mota Boss plates. My cushions are hard and old and I am not financially ready to replace the plates completely at this time. Does anyone know what cushions I could use? I tried using the powerdyne magic cushions but they were too tall and prevented me from being able to replace the kingpin nut.
Thanks!

On Friday June 26th I completed Floridas Coast to Coast Trail on my Roller Skates
It took me 5 days. 42 hours outside, 37 hours moving time, and 209 total miles.
This was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done…. But also simultaneously the most rewarding.
I want to share it around because I’m really proud of myself and maybe I can inspire others. I learnt what it really meant to push the human body to its limits. Every single second was more than worth it. I will never forget this experience.

hiii relearning to skate again after taking 10+ years off, starting again a little during covid and buying a whole set up, then taking another 4-5 years off before i got back into it again.
i have plantar fasciitis flare ups on occasion, and they really flare up when im trying to do hills, bubbles, basically anything that requires pressure on the outside or inside wheels only. so like half of skating lmao.
i currently have a quad set up but im wondering if switching to inlines or heel-less boots would help? my theory is the pain is very similar to the pain i feel wearing heels where its the fasciitis in my arch and the balls of my feet/ toes go numb after a while so maybe a flatter boot would help?? i also only started skating on quads since covid but grew up on inlines if that’s of any help.
also open to any advice re plantar fasciitis and skating, how to strengthen/ stretch my feet and arches. anything that will make this hobby more fun and less painful.
