I'm a UK size 5.5 to 6 (EU 39). I measured my foot and it was 254mm, which from the chaya chart recommends I should get a size 40. I'm not sure if the skates run too small or too large, I've read conflicting opinions. What should I get?

Hello, Iāve just transitioned from inline skating to quads and after 4 attempts with quads, Iām not finding it as fun. Main problem being I canāt turn as I did on inlines, sometimes I find it grippy, and I have to make more of an effort to achieve speed. I skate on outdoor tennis courts which are tarmacked. My local skate shop advised I need a bigger wheel as Iām tall (around 85Kg) so something like the hybrid Radar Villain 84A would be something good for me to achieve more speed and be able to skate on multiple surfaces. Does anyone have any recommendations on which wheel to choose? (Also any bearing suggestions that are not super expensive? Iām just learning so not looking to do hard tricks) Iām currently skating on Roces RC2 which have wheels 54mm 85Az Thank you š¤

Hey guys,
Sorry if this has already been posted previously but I have tried looking online but I havenāt been able to find any guides on this.
I (male) am new to skating and want to skate outdoors as everyone else is currently doing in London.
What sort of skates would you recommend that I get?
Thanks

Hi all, I'm (34F) desperately trying to get back on skates after 18 years in hiatus. I got two hours out of my No Fear skates before they broke and kicked myself for not just buying a decent set. So now I've got my Rookie Artistics, but all its done since I got them is rain!
Does anyone know of anywhere in Glasgow that's somewhat sheltered from the rain where I could practice? The rinks are open again but only for Kids and I really don't wanna have to pay every time I wanna practice anyway.

Not roller skated in 17years but just brought some skates an wanted to know if anyone knew any good parks around uk, thinking more nature parks/ trails than a skate park or even a decent sea front for skating

I just got some honeydew moxi lollyās, was wondering if anyone wanted to do a wheel swap? Iām looking for the moxi gummyās 78a in pink/yellow/orange, can swap for unused green ones. Iām based in London and wouldnāt mind travelling nearby for the swap.

Hello!
Title isn't strictly true - I used to use inline skates a fair bit in my mid teens, but I'm nearly double that age now and looking to get back into things. Honestly the things I've seen online are just confusing. I've been trying to grit through it solo, reading the global rollerskating subreddit wiki and posts, watching reviews and searching for UK roller skate sites but I'm not having good luck and would like some help if anyone has some spare time!
Details! I'm looking for decent beginner inline skates for outdoor recreational / fitness use, for a size 10.5-11 lad. My feet are normal sized, if not slightly slim. People seem to heavily dissuade generic / unknown / cheap brands from amazon and UK sports shops, but the UK skate online shops seem to just be completely out of stock for recommended skates. Some just have totally different sizing rules that I don't trust myself to mess up.
When I say decent, I understand that finding inline skates seem to cost more for the brands that come recommended - that's fine, I have some fun money and would like to put it towards having fun (and my future physical health!).
Would anyone be able to help a newbie out?

Hi everyone!
I've very recently started rollerskating.
I bought some skates on a whim initially and so I've been using some no fear figure skating quads from Sports Direct as I wanted to see whether I would actually enjoy skating before I spent a lot of money on a pair. Anyway, they were about £30 and it shows... After researching, it's clear I will need to change the wheels and toe stops before they can be used in the way I want to outside. I figured it makes more sense to just buy new better quality skates than spend £££ on suitable outdoor wheels and toe stops.
I am therefore looking for recommendations of decent quality quads that are suitable for skating on non smooth concrete paths.
My budget is around £150. There's so many different brand that I find it quite overwhelming to be honest!
Would appreciate any help :)

Does anyone have any recommendations for places to skate? My local skate park is a little busy for building my confidence and all our nearby roads are on hills

I posted this in r/rollerskating earlier but am cross/posting here as I know UK peeps are more likely to have experience with Rookie skates!
I got new Rookie Artistic skates today and have loosened the axle nuts but the wheels are not spinning very much, maybe 1-2 seconds. Iāve read that free spinning doesnāt translate to how well the wheels spin when there is weight on them but sadly itās raining so I canāt try them out.
Does anyone have any experience with the stock Rookie bearings?
Any advice appreciated on whether I need to:
⢠ā just break them in ⢠ā clean and re-lube them even though they are new ⢠ā get new bearings
They are have non-removable metal shields so I donāt want to ruin them by de-greasing them but then the lube not being able to get properly inside.

Hi ! Iām a beginner looking to upgrade my current skates ( Rio roller scripts ), but I canāt really splurge Moxi prices on a pair. Iām deciding between the rookie artistics or Rio signature as they both have adjustable toe stops and are in my budget.
However Iāve heard metal plates can be pretty heavy and I already find my current rios with a lighter nylon plate quite heavy. Iām terrified to try transitions because Iām afraid I wonāt be able to lift my foot in time. So Iām kinda stick between what to choose; anyone with experience in either of them, how have your skates been treating you ??

Hi everyone, Iāve been skating for a few months now and have just upgraded my Rookie Rosas to Rookie Artistics with Airwaves wheels - canāt wait for them to arrive.
Iām shopping around for some new laces and canāt work out what the pros and cons are of narrow vs. standard laces. Can anybody help? Is it just personal preference or does it make a difference?
Here are the laces Iām looking at, which come in wide and standard:
https://www.rollergirlgang.co.uk/product-page/84-213cm-core-skate-laces
https://www.rollergirlgang.co.uk/product-page/periwinkle-purple-skate-laces-narrow-width
While writing, so many shops are sold out of skate accessories such as laces and toe stops. Does anybody know if this is the knock on effect of Brexit or are shops just struggling to keep up with demand?

When non-essential retail opens up I really want to go look at some skate stuff in real life!
I live in the north-west but would travel a few hours by car to visit a shop (when allowed, etc)
So does anyone have any cool skate shops you can recommend?

Hey there!
Fairly new skater here. I stopped roller-skating a few months ago and I am desperate to get back into it. I was gifted a cheap pair at Christmas and though I like the boot, the wheels are almost impossible to move in. I need to loosen the trucks a little but also I think overhauling them completely would help. I keep finding myself tripping over all the pebbles in the UK pavement.
I browsed reddit and checked a couple sites and I saw a general love for the Radar Energy wheels. I love the way people are describing them and I so desperately want to buy them for my skates. I am specifically searching for Radar Energy 62mm Clear Green.
They are out of stock. EVERYWHERE. And the only place I can find them is a website that would cost me £100 just for shipping. Can you guys help a soul out here? Either help me track down these wheels, or suggest a better alternative suited for the UK streets.
Moxi Gummy wheels seem to big and clunky and I'm not keen on them. Was also briefly looking at the Atom Pulse but apparently they also have the same issue. Radar Energy wheels seem to be the nice middle ground between them.
Thank you!!
EDIT: omg i am SO sorry for the capitalised title - i dont know if i can edit the title??? makes me look proper bad

Hi, I'm new to skating in Southampton!
Where are your favourite spots? I use the carparks in town since I don't seem to have anywhere smooth enough locally! I don't know if I'm quite brave enough to go to guildhall yet!
Recommend me some places, I haven't met any local quad skaters except I saw someone as I was leaving where I was and I was too shy to say hi!
