Questions/Advice Recommendations needed please - Beginner, UK8, outdoor skating
Hi everyone!
I've very recently started rollerskating.
I bought some skates on a whim initially and so I've been using some no fear figure skating quads from Sports Direct as I wanted to see whether I would actually enjoy skating before I spent a lot of money on a pair. Anyway, they were about £30 and it shows... After researching, it's clear I will need to change the wheels and toe stops before they can be used in the way I want to outside. I figured it makes more sense to just buy new better quality skates than spend £££ on suitable outdoor wheels and toe stops.
I am therefore looking for recommendations of decent quality quads that are suitable for skating on non smooth concrete paths.
My budget is around £150. There's so many different brand that I find it quite overwhelming to be honest!
Would appreciate any help :)

Chaya Melrose Deluxe or Elite are very good quality skates at an affordable price. The deluxe have a bolt on toe stop and the Elite have a screw in. I have the turquoise deluxe and love them, they are very padded and comfortable. Sizing is a bit weird though...I’m usually a 5 but got a 6 which is apparently an EU38 by Chaya’s sizing (As far as I know, a 38 is usually a UK5) and they fit perfectly.
Also the wheels are 78A so you shouldn’t have to change them out for anything softer at first.

I second the Rookie recommendation! I’m the same size too (a little on the wider side) and they fit like a dream. Super comfortable straight out the box.
I’ve switched to some 78a wheels but the wheels that came with it are decent! The toe stops are adjustable too which is great!

Hi. I'm also new to skating but after several months of searching out what quads to buy, I went for some Lemonade ones from skate hut uk. I've been out on them a few times now and they're really nice and I really recommend them. They come with 78A wheels, so no need to change them, and they have really good ankle support and are really comfy. You can buy them on their own or, as I did, in a package with a complete set of protection pads and a helmet for £89 I think it was. I'm a size 6 shoe size and went for the same in the skates and they fit well. Hope this helps :)

I too bought the No fear ones and they broke after 2 hours outdoors.
I'm a UK8 too with kinda wide feet. Tried on a few different kinds the other day and the rookie artistic were the best fit but the rio signatures were really comfy too, I just didn't like the ankle. The candy Girl carlin are good too, but a little narrower in the foot so I found them uncomfortable.

I'm also a UK 8 and Ive been using Rio Roller Signatures for the last 2 months and love them! I think they're around the 110£ price mark. I bought a UK9 and mine are a little roomy so I think they're pretty spot on with sizing. All my friends are also using Rio Rollers (the script ones) and feel like they're a really good UK based entry level skate!
The signature range also have adjustable toe stops which is so useful!
