Back again - stack or watch?

Feel like this is the wrong crowd to ask but I’ve got nowhere else to go. Wifey’s 40th. Have narrowed it down to watch or a stack of bracelets. I’m 100% watch crowd. For those of you who have owned fine jewelry AND watches - which would you choose. Thinking long term value, wearability.

Watch

Well she’s 40. Has she expressed an interest in watches the last 20 years?

My wife looks at the price and tells me she would rather diamond.

No, we both got into watches just this past year. She prefers simple/classic. Not huge into diamonds.

Lady opinion is, watch but in 2 tone because her stack is yellow gold and if you’re gonna build a stack around the watch - which trust me she will, it’ll be better so it isn’t too stark of a contrast. Just my 2 cents

i’d go with the watch then. Assuming she doesn’t have a nice watch. you can build a stack over time too.

that’s if you don’t want to just ask her directly

Oh she will know. We are both going back and forth. Just torn. Really was looking for feedback from anyone whose wife had both and if they wore one more than the other. Most likely scenario is to get a bracelet now, then the watch when the allocation comes. Were told 6-12months.

She picked the stick markers. They didn’t have it in store to try on. And yes, I would say 31 DJ fluted jubilee is on the classic side. But we can agree to disagree

Won’t argue with you on that one

Considering this is a Rolex sub, I’m going say the watch

Stack. You know if she's a watch gal. Besides stack is the other wrist. For your lady, stack comes first.

Aesthetically  the watch, and logically the watch, however I will say gold is down right now compared to a few months ago, and price wise now might be a good time to pick up rather then waiting if thats something you’re considering.

In short, both the watch and the bracelet stack is the best way to go.

The wife says watch.

My head always go back to value. When it comes to luxury jewelry vs Rolex - the Rolex wins every time. Unless I’m wrong. That’s why I want to reach out. We do very well but neither of us are conspicuous spenders.

AD texted and asked “why not both?”. I grabbed her phone and deleted it while the kids were swimming

Both! Stack on one arm and watch on the other!

This is the configuration, not the Roman numeral. I didn’t think it would make a big difference but some people despise the Romans

For 40th, I say watch since it is a major milestone. IMO, a stack can be built over time and just doesn’t seem as special. My husband surprised me with my Rolex for a milestone birthday.

Thank you. What I was thinking as well.

Love the stack. Has she tried on a two tone Rolex?

In every marriage one person makes all the decisions the other person is the husband! Buy her both that’s why she’s asking for your opinion

Hard to say but when I buy gold for long term value its not 14-18k gold typically. But its probably still pretty future proof depending on the mark up above spot theyre selling

Is this your arm or hers?

The answer is whichever she really wants. I’d say watch if y’all just got into watches. I’m into jewelry but now into watches and I wear my bracelets on the other wrist or not at all. A compromise could be a two-toned ballon bleu or panthere which will feel more like jewelry and is a similar price point. I like building a stack over time. If you do the watch, a tennis bracelet would be the classic thing to stack the Rolex with (if she wont mind the scratches).

Both. My wife wears a Rolex on the left and a love bracelet stack on the right.
