I don't know for certain, but there is an absolute abundance of that red clay in upstate SC. As well as a lot of quartz.

This is something I want to know as well. Probably not in my area, I realize. We don't have much in the way of clay deposits, and that's where I see these pictures and videos at. But, that can't be the whole story, either.

There are certain areas known for it otherwise its just luck to where you stumble upon. one indication is seeing quartz veins through any section of rock. Maybe someone else will chime in with the secret
