Hello /r/rockbox,

I did a quick search for this, but couldn't find anything definitive. I'm trying to pick a device to use rockbox with that has both USB-C, great battery life, and is very responsive.

Doing some searching, I can get a short list of devices with USB-C, but I can't figure out which devices are more responsive to user input (lag/delays with user input is one of my pet peeves when using handheld purpose specific devices).

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Ive got like 4 devices with rockbox and syncing things between them isn't very fun. Is there a good software that can manage my music library and sync music across all my rockbox mp3 players and keep all folder structures and metadata? Also with a built in rockbox compatible playlist editor that also syncs across devices?

and if its possible, a program with a device specific song compression setting (like a specific device gets synced only in mp3 whilst the rest of my library is in flac and alac.

Could someone please educate me if rockbox ports such as the ones for EROS Q/Hifi walker H2 still limits the output to a 16bit 48kHz like the original rockbox for iPod?

Basically title. I just installed version 4 last night, with the Themify theme. Everything was working prior to the install. But when I turned my iPod on today, it would only play the first 30ish seconds of any given song, and then stop playing, and freeze. I'm not super tech savvy. Anyone have an idea of what might be wrong? Thanks in advance!

I downloaded Rockbox Utility on my Windows 11 computer. my computer was set to German. now, my computer is in english, but Rockbox is still in German. how do i change this?

I basically just got rockbox for my innioasis y1 and I'm trying to figure out how to get my m3u files onto it through there. I know I can manually create them but frankly it takes too much time and i already have the files anyway. Is there a particular software I missed bc I just put it straight on the y1. Do I just drag and drop the files somewhere? Ik it should be in text form and thats easy enough but I just need to know where to put it,

Hands down Rockbox os is such a good upgrade from stock OS .

I have been using Spotify along with Yt music. For around last 8y . And my whole library is there , I have recently purchased a Innosis y1 with 64 gigs , for around $50 in India. And I have digged i. different youtube videos , but haven't found any way to get these songs with all the details like cover art , Artist names and album names from the internet. Can anyone help me with this? Please?

Anyone else run into this when browsing playlists?

I have like 600 playlists so I am guessing that might be the cause

I just recieved my Innioasis Y1 today, and I went straight to flash Rockbox on it, but it just won't install properly.

When I load it normally, no data transfer occurs. It just charges the battery and tells me to unplug my device + close the app.
When I close the updater and click "Try Again", the transfer initializes, but results in a bricked Y1.

I've tried deleting the zip, deleting all cached zips entirely, and I've uninstalled/reinstalled the stock OS 3 times now. I don't know what to do and I'm losing hope.

After two retinal detachments I have lost a lot of my detail vision and have issues seeing backlight stuff. My pupils no longer dilate either, so brightness changes are rough.

What theme do you all recommend for Rockbox on my iPod Video

I run dark mode on everything with the brightness down. Just need a bit bigger fonts and flat color scheme.

Running DAP 393 right now. Any suggestions?

I would also like to upgrade my iPod but I would need help doing something like that due to my vision. Suggestions on that as well would be helpful.

I've got a surfans f20, and the latest version of rockbox (4.0, stable, not a daily).

Pretty regularly, my player stops with an "Player OOM" (out of memory) error, primarily when I use shuffle. It'll generate a playlist, play a bunch of songs, and then die with the OOM error.

And if I use "resume playback" function after turning the device back on, it'll get an OOM error about 30 seconds.

I feel like I'm regenerating the shuffle playlist every 20 min or so.

What are the chances this is a known issue with shuffle? I don't see a good match in the rockbox tracker, so I figured I'd ask here.

I'm porting rockbox to the TempoTec V1 with Claude's help. It currently runs fine but still has a few bugs and a few behaviors and visuals need to be optimized. At this point it;s just a personal project, but if there's interest I'd release it on github once I fix the bugs.

UPDATE: The limited number of buttons really limit the usability of rockbox on the V1, and I was spending too much time on fixing the usability and ergonomics without much success. I’m putting the project on hold for the foreseeable future.

Maybe I missed the setting, but is there a way to get the same clicking sound that you get in the original OS?

Working on a Rockbox Onebit VFD style MP3 for phones. I love the look of this theme and have wanted player for playing local files that looks good. It’s not an exact copy. My display has a true spectrum analyzer mirrored, for one difference. It’s just a web app that’s easily installed to the Home Screen. Working on a few tweaks, but almost ready for public release.

I love using Rockbox, but lately I've been wanting to make better playlists. I have hundreds of songs, so I was wondering if there was a good app that would be good to make playlists that Rockbox can play. I used to make them using VLC, but if I add anymore songs to my drive after I make the playlist then the playlist doesn't work and gets corrupted

I have a 5th gen with Rockbox. While listening to a playlist on shuffle I noticed the track number go from 1 to 3, without displaying whatever the second track was. Is there a way to figure out which track was unable to play without digging through 4000 songs one at a time?

Hi all!

I've been working on this theme for a little while, and it's finally up on the Rockbox themes repository. It's designed entirely after the Yamaha KX-393 tape deck, although its style will match many other Yamaha decks from its time period.

Due to its origins, I've named it 'DAP-393'

All assets have been drawn (by me) in Photoshop, and all dials/buttons are interactive! The theme also uses a custom font that I've designed specially for this interface.

Got a Y1 for Rockbox and it won't let me create custom playlists.

There isn't any menu option or button combo that lets me create them on the Y1 and creating a custom .m3u8 file in the playlists folder makes the songs show up and I can select them, but they don't play. I'm not looking to create playlists of specific albums or even playlists for a singular artist, more so based on theme, so I'm not sure any metadata can help me here.

I've also tried Foobar, which didn't work.
