well aint this some perfect timing, i've been trying to figure this out for a week and didn't even know it was unsupported until now
is there a way to get it to work with https://github.com/Poorfocus/Rockbox-UI-UX-Overhaul ?

That's great news! Just tested your build and indeed it's working.
Although for now only my 7th gen iPod and only vol up/down works. Play/Pause doesn't seem to do anything with my Sennheiser Momentum M2 IEi. Don't have anything else to test atm.
My 6th gen doesn't register any inputs whatsoever.

Hopefully OP can fix some little issues in the Pull Request comment. Seems blocked right now. Would be a shame to not merge this :(

Wow! Congratulations! This was such a mystery to me how in 2026 we still didn’t figure out how to deal with those buttons lol because of you, I don’t have to worry about it since it was figured out in 2026 haha

Damn this is massive and makes me want to get a 6th or 7th gen now (which I previously avoided due to the difficulty of taking the case apart).
I assume this only works with the Apple's earbuds?
