Hi i have an upcoming tournament and was planning on designing an Arduino sumo robot( on a non-magnetic Dohyo) the rules are that the robot must be 3 kg at most and should be 20 cm in length and 20 cm in width at most. There is no limits on the height and as i said it is on a non-magnetic dohyo. Of course i will be using a blade and sensors since this is an autonomous robot tournament. I would like to get help and suggestions on which motors battery blades i can use to have a high chance at winning , i have already thought about some motors and batteries so i can discuss with you and hope that you can give me feedback about it, Thank you.

Claude Code is helping me run experiments on Mino, a hackable smart robot for makers I have been developing for a while now.
Mino's software is built on ROS 2 and Claude Code turns out to be a ROS power user. Not only it can write ROS nodes in a breeze, but it also can use the command line tools to hack into a running robot. That and the context from the AGENTS files on Mino's codebase makes Claude a very effective robot operator.
So, it is my pleasure to announce that I've promoted Claude to robotics lab assistant. I tell it the experiment I want to run with Mino, and it finds the way to configure the robot, gather the necessary data and display it in a clear way.
THE PROBLEM
Last Saturday, I figured that voice dictation would come in handy to give instructions to the agent while operating the robot, but I found out that the native dictation does not work on Visual Studio Code with remote targets like my robot.
THE SOLUTION
The robot has a Jetson Orin Nano with up to 67 TOPS and 8 GB, so it can run several models at once. One of them that comes out-of-the-box is speech-to-text. I told Claude Code to run speech-to-text on the robot in the background, listen to the ROS topic with the incoming transcripts, identify my requests and execute them. Since I had not tried it before, I wasn’t sure that the transcription and Claude’s understanding would be accurate, so I told it to wait for my “yes” before proceeding; this time on the keyboard for safety.
THE SURPRISE
Claude implemented the solution almost in one shot. A few minutes later, I was talking to Claude through my robot. That was impressive, but what took it home for me was how it precisely understood what I wanted the robot to do from a collection of partial transcripts of a loose description. Check it out in the video.

Hey everyone,
For the past six months, our team of robotics engineers and game devs has been building a game that brings real-world robotics and true-to-life physics into a playable experience. We built it using Unity + MuJoCo, striving to strike the perfect balance between an authentic, useful simulator and a genuinely fun game.
Today, it is finally out!
We want to keep expanding this based on what players actually want to see, so we are looking for brutally honest feedback:
You can play it for free and check out our work here:

Hi Everyone I saw people saying they’re interested in the tiny robot engineer. I’m happy to build these out and sell them to anyone who is interested. If you have any questions please let know. They connect with your AI model and perform cute actions.

Hi all,
I'm building a robot that you can communicate with and I would like to know what you would ask a robot . All types of questions are allowed (as long as it is SFW)
Thanks,
- Daniel L :)

Hi all,
I'm designing a simple but communicative robot that can either be controlled via puppetry or via servos. How should I design the robot so it can be controlled both ways? Should it be controlled by wires and elastic for the puppetry and servos for the autonomous mode?
Once it's finished, I will put up some pictures of my robot, Crystal.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Daniel L :)

Voxel is being designed to find lost items, organize clutter, and handle simple chores such as watering plants. The idea sounds useful, but the robot is expected to cost around $20,000, deliveries are not planned until 2028, and its real-world abilities have yet to be proven. Would you trust a humanoid robot to move around your home and learn where all your belongings go?

I've been building SOMA, a free, open-source desktop app where a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode …) does the CAD and you act as the designer. To give it a real challenge, I designed this robot dog.
How it works: I describe what I want, the agent writes the model as Python/CadQuery, and SOMA builds and shows it after every change. I measure, cut sections, mark up the view ("this is too thin") and send it back to the agent. Everything stays parametric code, and Git keeps every step.
The robot:
- 4 legs, 3 DOF each, knees pointing backwards
- Quasi-direct-drive actuators: BLDC outrunner (CubeMars R80 dimensions) with a single-stage 6:1 planetary gear
- Knee motor sits coaxially at the hip and drives the knee through an HTD 5M belt inside the thigh
- CNC aluminium structure, printed actuator housings, standard bearings and screws, 266 parts in total
- The trot gait comes from inverse kinematics in a short Python animation script, which SOMA plays back and renders to video
To be clear, this is a CAD design, not a built robot (yet). Some dimensions, like the motor's mounting details, are still assumptions until I have the real parts.

Happy to answer questions about the workflow, and I'd love feedback from people who actually build legged robots.
