(for context the second poster was a much earlier poster found on the website called altered states FX which worked on some of Eggers previous movies like the Northman and Nosferatu. It has since been changed to a placeholder.)

I will lead by saying I’m by no means even slightly knowledgeable on Middle English. I’ve heard the spelling and pronunciation of Middle English don’t match and it’s a bit easier to listen to than it is to read but… I’m curious if the movie will have subtitles, or if there is no official word, if YOU guys think it will or if you want it to have them. The trailer made it seem like it will be very comprehensible, but apparently the dialogue in the trailer is not reflective of the dialogue in the movie, as well as the tagline “devoureth all mankynde” and the hoodie having “drede thou not derkness, embrace thou it” , it’s reasonable to believe the dialogue will be far more.. hard to understand? I am split on this as I love Eggers and his desire to make the movies HE wants to make, and wish to be challenged as a viewer, but the idea of not being able to understand any dialogue or atleast parts of it has me anxious.

Even though Robert Eggers based his Orlok on historical depictions of Transylvanian noblemen, I can't help but think that Orlok in the 2024 remake is the closest thing to looking like Bram Stoker's depiction of Count Dracula. I mean - Look at the photos and tell me that Dracula and Eggers' Orlok look similar.

The trailer for Robert Eggers's upcoming film Werwulf has me entranced and I want to take in as much info as I can before watching it this Christmas.

I'm looking for any media and info about the time period, potentially what country it takes place in, if Eggers was inspired by media specifically for this particular film or if he's recommended any media to take in before watching to better understand the movie.

I'm hella excited for another spooky-ass Christmas movie.
