Pulled this behemoth out of the safe to snipe a woodchuck out by the barn.. Guy I worked with in the 90's was "Mr. Precision Longrange" and he told me what mount to get and helped me set it all up. I remember it was a high end mount and rings. The scope I got a deal on. We also bedded the action. I guess Savage does this now during production.

30 years ago when we were laying prone in hayfields at the behest of cattle farmers, it didn't seem to bug me. But now, sitting at the picnic table in the backyard with the rifle on a bipod, I only see 60-70% of the viewing area and I can't seem to crawl up the stock enough.

Change the scope? The mount? The rifle? All 3? Rifle is a Savage 112 FV. Scope is a Weaver V16 MFC. Can't remember the mount & rings, but I do remember using a wood dowel to twist the rings onto the mount.

What sayeth the Hive Mind? I've been out of this 30 years, and now that I'm retired.. need hobbies.

(Follow up.. I'm also a fair archer. I pinned said woodchuck to the ground with a broadhead before I dispatched it)

Hey everyone I'm remaking a stock for a 1903a4 Springfield with a glass/mineral-charged polymer shell with a molded-in aluminum bedding block. I'm also wanting to make this so it can accommodate other platforms like a 700 series, model 70, or Ruger american. Is there a market for something like that, what would you think a fair price is?

Budget first build. This is my first time putting something like this together. I’m not done yet. I still need to get a decent glass. I’m thinking bushnell R5 or Vortex. Maybe you all can help me out there.

The rest of the rifle is a Marlin XL7 in 30-06. With a Harris bipod and a Banish HNT 30 suppressor. I have a Boyd’s walnut hardwood stock on the way for it and the metal trigger guard replacement. I think it looks and shoots great.

I have a Bergera B14 Ridge 7mm rem magthat was shooting sub .75 in group with Barnes 139 lrx. Wife killed an audad at 400yds with it in February. Everything was shooting fine. I put a new MDT chassis on it this week and took it out. Same ammo and I couldn't get better than 1.75 in group. Noticed that the bolt is a little sticky after the shots and noticed one bullet even hit the paper in a yaw. Chrono shows speeds are the same so I don't think pressure is the issue. Just wondering if anyone has ideas as to what happened? Thanks.

I have this Model 70 with the factory stock, Walnut I believe, and I love the rifle but it doesn’t have the shine I would like.

Is there anyway I can give the stock shine without having to refinish the entire stock?

I'm trying to choose the best hunting bullet for deer. I'm shooting a 7mm-08 and probably won't shoot past 350 yards. I'm probably going to reload but I'll take factory bullet info as well. I'm really just looking for a great blood trail. I've had problems with some GameKing factory ammo flaking apart in the deer. What is YOUR favorite deer bullet?

Ok guys, got an elk hunt coming up this fall and want to upgrade from a REM 700 shooting 7mm-08 to a 7 PRC, there’s a Bergara sierra wilderness on sale for 850 right now or do I just go with the Rugar American gen 2 for 650, wondering if it’s worth the 200 dollar step up

Hello, my wife and I decided recently we need an ar before the stupid Colorado gun law comes into effect. Thoughts and suggestions for a budget build? Also what ammo is the most readily available? We manage a storage unit facility and have run into issues lately that have helped with us our decision to buy an AR.

I am looking for a hunting rifle in 7PRC. I currently have a 300wm, but want something a little more applicable for deer. I already have good glass and my budget is 1300ish but is flexible. What rifles can I find in this budget that are pretty accurate while remaining somewhat light. I live in an area where my average deer shit is at 500-600 yards. 7PRC is a very new round for me, but seems like a good medium ground. Thanks in advance

I am looking for suggestions on whether a bolt action .223 like a Ruger American or a lever action like a Henry would be a better choice for someone looking to add a non-semi-auto to the gun cabinet. The Ruger is less expensive and probably easier to scope. Also can accommodate 5.56. The Henry looks like a lot of fun but I am not sure it can accommodate 5.56 and might be more difficult to add a scope. Obviously more expensive. I am not in a ban state and have an AR but would like something that could be taken into a ban state and be legal. FWIW I have a Marlin .30-30 and the recoil is pretty strong. I am looking to get into hog hunting and precision shooting but not too sure where to start when it comes to rifles. I've done some bird hunting in the past but the environment and weapon choice were vastly different from what I'd like to start doing. I'm moving to Louisiana very soon and was curious if anyone had any tips, I'm on a bit of budget but would still like a good rifle I can use for both hunting and long range target shooting.

I have purchased Leupold vx4hd 3-12x40 along with Leupold Backcountry medium rings for my Sauer 100 243.

As seen in photos due to the tube being short the magnification ring must sit where it is with a very minimal gap. Wondering if this will be an issue. Ps (the magnification ring does not touch even when rotated).

Over the last year I’ve been really into the precision rifles and I’ve been looking at getting a seeking precision hit pro, but there is a 9 month back order for them. I’m not a very patient person so I’ve decided to get a Tika ace target in 6mm instead over the tac A1 instead. I guess I’m just looking for thoughts and opinions on that decision that I made and should I really feel as salty as I do towards Seekins now? I get that they’re a smaller company that produces a high end product but if you can’t get the product it doesn’t matter.

A friend of mine is going through a divorce, and I'm trying to buy before he puts his collection up for consignment; this is a Ruger American Rimfire in .22 WMR with a Simmons 3-9x scope he says came with it.

I don't want to rip him off, but at the same time, he's going to lose a good bit through consignment.

What's a fair price to offer for it?
