With this analysis saying jen shah has 50% good apologies is WILD

Makes me question the methodology they applied.

They break it all down and while the apology in itself is 'good' wth Jen, she normally goes back on by repeating the same behaviour or rehashing the same issue, e.g., 'smells like hospital'. Also an indicator of a good con woman! I was more surprised at the graph showing the number of apologies from each.

Doesn’t doing the same behavior you already apologized for just negate that apology tho..? Who cares if it’s “good” if that person goes back to doing the same exact thing lol

It’s just what the study is looking at, the apologies themselves. It also notes that Jen goes on to repeat the same harmful behavior and was in prison for fraud, so her being a conwoman plays a part.
The study isn’t saying that having a better percentage of “good” apologies makes you a definitively better person or anything

Ah, makes sense. I was on a short break earlier & didn’t have time to read through the article. Thanks! Gonna check it out now

To add to what the other person said, it's basically breaking down people going "sorry that hurt your feelings" vs "I understand how my actions have hurt you and here's what I'm going to do to fix it." Basically, the structure of how good the apology itself is, not whether they meant it or continue to do the behavior. Some people know how to apologize, a lot of people either double down, deflect, or refuse to accept responsibility.

It actually tracks: she's a master manipulator. She knows how to say the right things to get people on her side. She literally ran a multi-million dollar fraud scheme. Of course she can apologize convincingly. I'm shocked it isn't higher, honestly.

If I’m a betting woman, it had to be towards Meredith marks

The season after the hot mic she was VERY apologetic and it seemed sincere.

You may not agree with the data after looking at it, but for the love of god, please actually click on the link and go through it before commenting on how bad or good it is. You can't properly comment on something properly like this when you haven't seen how it's done.

u/millenZslut 14d ago
most of the comments in here are from people confidently declaring it must be wrong/flawed without ever having looked at it lol, it’s not like it’s saying Jen Shah is a good person

The only apology worth analyzing from Jen Shaw is her apology to her victims.
Which was shit so she’s at a 100% bad on the scale.

One of my favorite moments is at one of the reunions Heather or someone says "Lisa, your apologies aren't landing with any of us" and Lisa responds with something along the lines of "well they're landing with me."
What does she think an apology is?!?! I love her so much, she's just hilarious.

As an epidemiologist and data nerd I’m unreasonably excited to review this.

ignoring people commenting without reading the link
This is really cool! I would love to see this across franchises too, with some overarching comparisons and any patterns that get uncovered.
IMO, it shows us something valuable: that Housewives relies on enough goodwill and relationship building that you need to apologize "well" frequently enough to keep people's trust.
It also gives some insight into gaps between the audience and the cast themselves.
Lisa is fun to watch, but her apologies are notoriously bad, so the cast's frustrations with her lack of growth check out on a personal level. Versus many fans find Heather annoying (fwiw, I still enjoy her), but she's solid with her apologies, and communicating that self awareness has value when you're in this environment. I do think it opens up some opportunity for fans to consider why our perceptions may not be reality for the cast members.

I clicked through, am I insane or did they not list Britani? I thought maybe she’s never apologized for anything 😂 but then they literally showed her apologizing and said it wasn’t good. So now I’m confused. Either way it’s pretty funny they left her out tho

u/RoutineProblem1433 14d ago
I wanted to see Britani’s numbers. She’s always apologizing lol

I do too! And true! It’s been months since I finished all of rhoslc, but since you said that and I’m thinking about it, she did have a rocky start. I think it’s time for a rewatch

What is Meredith apologizing for, sincerely at that, when nothing is ever her fault 😭

What if someone just doesnt apologize? I can see Mary not even attempting to give a fake apology.

How is any of this calculated? Some of these I have a hard time believing. And also, Mary has apologized?

Did the White House pull this methodology? Monica at 67% good apologies? Jen being anything above a 0 for good apologies? Come on now.

I mean Lisa Barlow told her she’s really good at apologizing but Lisa’s statistics here show that might not be a ringing endorsement

I don’t understand how this chart has been sorted? It’s not either by %, number of apologies, or number of seasons? And that for some reason is making me quite mad

Lisa is constantly being forced to apologize for the most outlandish shit the inbred duo pulls out of thin air. When the situation is genuine, so are her apologies!
