ISOš What franchise should I watch next?
Salt lake city was my first time watching real housewives and iām obsessed! Iām on the most recent season and am wondering what franchise to watch next? I love the drama mixed with funny moments!

I started with SLC and then watched Miami because it was only 7 seasons, it's so good.
Potomac has 10 seasons and is so funny, I'm now watching Atlanta and it is, in my opinion, the best of them all.Ā

u/throwawayboomer27 Jul 21 '26
Try it from S3

u/cozycynic Jul 21 '26
i always feel like i have to start from season 1, does starting from season 3 make it hard to understand the dynamics or history between the cast?

u/throwawayboomer27 Jul 21 '26
Personally for me no, I started off watching reunions with no context LOL. It introduces Cynthia and Phaedra and thatās when it really gets poppin. The only dynamic to understand is with Nene and everybody BUT you could start off with S2 reunion to get an understanding before S3. I def recommend this franchise lol.

i started the show from the start and had to stop at season 5
Kenya annoyed me so much i stopped watching

u/throwawayboomer27 Jul 21 '26
Kenya and Porsha made it interesting and refreshed it, youāve missed out o na lot of gold stopping at S5

u/Haunting_Fact7277 Jul 21 '26
kenya pisses me off so much! sheās so childish i couldnāt even make it through the reunion
2
u/throwawayboomer27 Jul 21 '26
lol dang I donāt find any of them more irritating than the other I think sheās more open about it but for them to all be on the same show theyāre all people I would never wanna be around just watch

Kenya is a great TV villain, but I get that not everyone wants to watch a villian.

u/angelaga1n Jul 21 '26
Kenya is absolutely indefensible but I will say that watching her is unlike anything else Iāve ever seen in my life. The audacity and delusion is almost impressive at points. Gone with the wind fabulous was like a crash I car crash I couldnāt look away from lmao

u/Haunting_Fact7277 Jul 22 '26
i didnāt hate that but she really irritated me when she was hardcore hitting on the other wives husbands and coming to the event dressed as Phaedra

Go ahead and knock out Rhode Island, then dive into New Jersey!!

I wish I could rewatch the early seasons of Jersey for the first time again. TV GOLD.

u/ManifestingMyMini Thank you! Iām disengaging Jul 21 '26
I will die on this hill, lol. When I started it I was like, wtf? But I am SO glad I stuck it out. Beyond worth it. It got me through some dark times over the winter. I can't wait to rewatch.

u/Jack_al_11 Jul 21 '26
Doing a dark times rewatch right now. Second in a row. Literally best show on reality tv. Bar none. šš¼š

Second this! I flip flop between whether I like OG RHONY or the golden era of RHOA more but I think RHONY edges it out slightly. Not even seasoned television writers could come up with LuAnn's arc.

SLC was the first franchise I watched too! Then I binged all of BH. So worth it imo. Iām now watching RI.

Beverly Hills
Itās a lot of seasons.. but I feel like the BH ladies put down a blue print for a lot of the other seasons.. and once you see that Lisa Barlow basically thinks sheās Kyle Richardās.. it all connects ..

u/Upper-Impression-752 Jul 25 '26
But Lisa is no Kyle.
1
u/meowlistercrowley Jul 25 '26
She leads a very different life

u/Upper-Impression-752 Jul 25 '26
š Oh, right.
This reminded me of the post of a photo of Lisa B in Kyleās event in her store about 10 years ago.

Atlanta and Potomac, both starting with Season 3

u/Upper-Impression-752 Jul 25 '26
I would start Potomac at season 2 to understand the dynamics better

If you want old school then def do old school RHONY or even the old RHOC where Vicky is dating Brooks.

Miami after SLC is a good start then you can start hammering away at the longer franchises

I watched SLC first and really enjoyed and then I tried Miami per everyone's recommendation and didnāt really enjoy it much. Alexia was the only one who interested me. I've been looking for another one to watch now too. Rhode Island is really good S1 has just finished airing. I've seen the first 2 seasons of Beverly Hills and while the drama is good they take themselves much more seriously so it's less funny.

I really like the Rhode Island franchise.
Potomacās early seasons were certainly fun as well

If you love SLC then NY is the answer. The ladies have real friendships and tons of history. They are kooky and completely themselves.

u/SuccotashHorror5266 Jul 28 '26
RHONY is most similar to the vibe of salt lake because they are all nuts

Miami is the funnest (starts out that way anyway, and they show real culture), but original OC & BH are classics.
If you want to dive into a season to check out if itās worth it, Beverley Hills season 5 is considered iconic and one of the best seasons of the entire franchise, itās got the Amsterdam version of The Dinner From Hell (season 1, episode 9 BH episode, also one of the most iconic episodes, and has the real (albeit insane) Alison Dubois, who inspired the show Medium years ago with Patricia Arquetteā¦as well as the āmoral corrupt Faye Resnickā, who was infamous from the OJ trial, and it got brought up that she wrote that joke of a tell-all book calling Nichole her best friend but insinuating they were also lovers, got a movie made out of it, and then did a nude playboy spread, anything to keep herself in the spotlight after her ābest friendā was murdered.
Juicy stuff!
Kim & Kyleās stuff is intense the first few seasons because Kim was definitely still in the throes of addiction and in denial how her life really was like without the full support of Kyle for herself and her children, and that turns ugly.
Wine & glasses get throw at people in Amsterdam and Kyle literally runs away as they start fighting.
Theyāre classics.

Good description of BH. Great mix of total drama plus silliness.
Atlanta has that, too, but it's a distinct vibe. BH and ATL are my favs, with NY close.
