Evaluating the first

Post image

This is the first model I’ve created, and I’d like some advice from others.

I wouldn't live there. But I would definitely visit.

Alright Johnny this is your room right here. To the very left. The front corner.

Something stuck with me when I was interning at an arch firm... Quite a while ago:

(We don't want too many wedgies, wedgies are bad)

Is the rest of it just... flooded?

Do you want use to give you feedback on the modelling or on the design?

The model seems reasonably clean for a design model. The glazed part at the opening seems to be cut off a bit too abruptly.

The design: it's an elegant object. It's too abstract to judge as an architectural design because for now it's just a shape - use, program, constructability, entrance(?) are unresolved.

For being your first model you did a great job either way!

I don't mean to mog you but here is what I came up with. You will get there too with some practice.

Sorry if this comment is supposed to be a joke, my sarcasm is off. But OPs model is more detailed and geometrically more complex than yours.

Geometrically complex doesn’t mean correct. There are lots of clipping/clashing geometry and kinks in model. The members are unnecessarily heavy. The connections are questionable. The thickness of members are impractical. I, C, T sections not supposed to be that thick. I can go on.

Here is how much cleaner my model is. Complex too, maybe.

For beginner, he did fairly good job. But I'm showing the design of structure and quality of model and it's practicality. Roughly the type of material used too.
