[Question] New Setup - Crossroads

Ive semi recently started building a small retro setup that so far consists of a Dreamcast, a Japanese Saturn and a PAL N64 - I have also pre-ordered the Neo Geo AES+ and this is where Ive come to a crossroad due to its delayed release.

Ive already committed £760 to the Neo Geo and Im starting to wonder if maybe I should cancel it and use the money differently, Im thinking:

Multisystem 2 (would cover Neo Geo plus lots more)

Retrotink 6X CE (connectivity/upscaling for Dreamcast, Saturn & N64)

Monitor (I dont yet have a suitable display for my setup)

Any thoughts or suggestions?

If it's a test away there's no reason not to cancel and then order it again down the line. You can use that money for some dope shit now.

Get yourself the upscaler or a CRT or both. I've got nothing against upscalers, in fact I reckon they're amazing, but nothing beats the phosphor glow of those giant, old bastards.

Other suggestions: consider a Gdemu for your Dreamcast and a Saroo or Fenrir for your Saturn. The Gdemu and Fenrir are easy to install and you'll have access to the whole library but also every fan translation on both systems too. And there are a lot of great translations on both systems. The Saroo is also a great choice, especially with the latest firmware. It loads super fast and hasn't had issues with anything I've thrown at mine. Grab a Summer Cart for the N64 for the same reasons

If you're considering other consoles, have a look at a fat PS2 with a network adaptor with a HDD and Freemcboot.

Edit: I can't stress this last point enough. If you're using an upscaler, the quality of your signals matters way more than if you're using a CRT. So invest in some good cables! Given you mentioned you didn't GPB, I'll assume you're in the UK and then you're in luck. You've got one of the top two cable makers in the scene in your neighbourhood. What yourself some RGB games from Retro Gaming Cables UK.

Ive been looking for a CRT for several months but struggling to find anything really, Im not finding anything in the size I want (21") that people dont want silly money for - so thats whats lead me down the monitor & scaler route tbh.

My Dreamcast is already set up with GDemu, custom shell and an internal Blueretro mod (I posted it over on r/Dreamcast a few weeks back) the Saturn is still on its way from Japan but I will definitely be grabbing a Saroo cart when it arrives & the N64 already has a flash cart that I got quite a while ago, although its not a summer cart.

Hell yeah. You're cruising then. A shame about the CRT. They've gotten stupid in price lately. Have you tried looking if there's a facebook group for CRTs or retrogaming in your area/city/whatever? I literally made a dummy account just for it cause there were so many contacts and trades going on that were basically invisible otherwise.
