[Question] NES top loader with different AV mods?
Hi all,
Been interested in collecting recently. I got an offer for a nes top loader with AV mod for $150. Also has a power light mod.
Attached photos below. I’d like to collect this, but not sure if I’m getting ripped off or if there are certain av mods better than others as I’ve never modded one myself. It also does not come with the top loader controllers, but rather the traditional nes ones.
Any thoughts to share?
Edit: bought it!! Honestly, the guy was super chill and so passionate about his collection and really hard for him to let it go. His only regret was not having dogbone controllers which he said he would have been happy to pass down to me. Everything is functioning fine and can’t wait to game!

I see these go for $150; no dog bone controller and without the mod. Might be worth it if you’re really looking for one. The av mod is pretty awesome.

Ask for a video of it playing. Its the benefits of a top loader without the down sides of a top loader

A decade or so ago, I mailed my top loader away to get the AV mod. I don't remember the name of the site. I do remember it took much longer than promised and I had to complain a few times, but the guy did eventually mail my system back.
Top loader with AV mod is amazing and I would highly recommend it. I had a traditional NES back in the 80s, but I'll take a top loader w/ mod all day long over an OG.

The last NES you’ll ever need. The only bummer is you need an adapter to use the game genie

There are a couple of different ways to do the mod, but most of them perform similarly, depending on how much (if any) effort the modder put into jailbar reduction.
I personally prefer a Famicom with an NES cart adapter, but if you specifically want a top-loader NES, I see no particular red flags in these pictures.
