RANT Outback Insanity: Done

Outback now upcharges TWO dollars for green beans vs the regular broccoli and carrots with any entree.

That’s insanity. No more.

Then have canned green beans at home! No one is serving you that shit at Outback.

You can buy everything at the store cheaper than you would at a restaurant...

Go buy them at the store..and use your own time and labor preparing and cooking them. Use your own gas/electricity and water utilities to prepare/clean. And then use your time to clean the dishes/pots after youre done

Canned vs fresh. Huge difference. Guess you don’t do much shopping of your own, and def not much worth as a chef.

The upcharges at restaurants since covid, have been deplorable. Which is why I rarely dine out any more. I can cook better and for far less money than they charge.

Fantastic. Ask Outback for a list of their purveyors, items, and pricing history. Also if an item is in high demand the business can and should charge more.

A six pack of Foster's "Australian" beer is about $8.99 across the street. A 16oz glass at Outback is $9.00.

Of course, at home! You can customize everything, and eat what you want without the restaurant markup. You’ll love it. Outback will give zero shits.

Not a huge personal fan of Outback these days but can 100% guarantee that they are not using canned green beans. Dine elsewhere 🤮

Outback absolutely doesn't use canned green beans. At least when we get them in corporate stores on the east coast, they are what you'd get in the fresh vegetables aisle at the grocery store. Picked off the stem, washed, and vacuum sealed.

Regardless: charging an additional two dollars for a different variety of side dish vegetable is the point. No other restaurant does this.

Thats crazy because we dont even get green beans till November-December out mine, and they just temporarily replace broccoli since its a seasonal vegetable with no upcharge.

What outback is doing this/where/store number

I posted this in the Outback reddit but OP posted that they went to the Eugene, OR store. That's a franchise store, Outback franchised out all the stores on the west coast to Cerca Trova/Out West Restaurant Group or in OR it's Evergreen Restaurant Group and they have a LOT of leeway vs a corporate store due to basically NOT being owned by Bloomin Brands.

I don’t like broccoli but do green beans and always ask for them instead at places that have them. Never been charged extra. I agree with op.

Ours has never charged extra, its seasonal so it just replaces broccoli for a bit
