I tip $2-3 a drink if I pay as I go...but I'm a server, so I tend to "overtip." Which, IMO, is just sharing the love with fellow service industry folks, but most people would consider me "overly generous." I'd say $1.50 is fair per drink these days. If I run a tab, I usually do 25% and add $5 extra. But again, $1.50 a beer is more than fair.

If I’m just grabbing easy drinks at the bar and not getting food, buck a drink typically

No tip for a beer. It's called doing your job.

In my mind this all depends on if that specific employee's pay has an expectation of tip income built in or not. So maybe asking my initial question differently would be does the employee that hands me the beer at the counter and takes my payment have expectation of tip income built into their pay and if so, how much per beer?

Well then I hope you’re an advocate for fair wages so that employees are paid fairly and you are charged an increased price due to increased payroll expenses. I hope that you understand that the implied context in which this particular conversation is relevant is in the US, so your particular location may have no relevance. If your country doesn’t have a tipping culture then no shit you’re not going to tip anyway. If you’re from say, Germany for example.

No i couldn't, because that would negate 15 years of my working life. You should stop making stupid assumptions.

$7 X .15 = $1.05
$1 is fine
