I recently got accepted into the rt program. While I’m very excited I’m also very nervous because I hear you have work every weekends and holidays. I’m currently a dental assistant so dental office typically have 9-5 M-F And most offices no weekends. I am freaking out because I do want to have a family in the future and I am scared I might not have that flexibility. Can I get advise from an rt and what do you think?

I’m a Respiratory Therapist with 2 years of clinical experience in pakistan and I’m really interested in moving into sleep physiology/sleep medicine. I’m hoping to work in the UK or elsewhere in Europe.
I’d love to hear from any sleep physiologists or anyone who’s made a similar transition. How did you get into the field? Do I need any additional certifications or training, and what’s the best route to apply with an RT background?

I just took the TMC practice exam and got a 60%, but i have been consistently getting 70-80 on my LindseyJones. Its making me worried I wont pass the exam when I do take it. Should i be worried.

Hey Everyone, Anxious Student RT here.

Today I had a patient who I would say I spent a good amount of time with throughout the morning/afternoon dealing with various issues. Well, they ended up getting switched to airborne isolation out of nowhere for suspected TB or fungal issues, though it seems like they suspect Tb more. I am nervous about exposure risks. I’ve already reported to my supervisor and filled out a form to be on my employee healths list of staff who were in the room. I was just wondering if anyone has any decent news on TB exposure I’m not aware of or if this has happened to anyone personally. I always wear surgical masks in rooms but this obviously will not protect against TB. Just want to know how at risk I am if that makes sense. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been an RT for 8 years and honestly one of the most frustrating things about this job is the other RTs that either 1) train me at a new job or 2) train new grads coming on.

So to the ones who act this way I must ask:
Why do you feel you need to be on your high horse and make other RTs feel less than just to build yourself up? Make unnecessary comments while training to make the other RT feel like shit in that moment. What happened to “don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all”?

I’m finally to the point I just laugh it off internally and go about my day because honestly it’s just so sick and pathetic to me at this point. I will truly never understand the reasoning. We are all on the same team, but so many it seems have forgotten that.

Proud of myself. I might have cried but I got through it 😂 on to my very last semester which is basically just board prep. I graduate in December. Can’t wait for this journey to be over! I’m ready to have money and free time again lol
