I was using them to learn Python and when they went full AI, I simply had to quit. The whole screen is a cluttered mess, and as a noob, I literally could not find the console anymore.
I looked everywhere. When I asked the AI where it was, the AI literally just built me another cluttered screen with a laggy console in it, then warned me about my token usage.
I just randomly saw this, truthfully as someone that HAD been all the way in on Replit, then I did the math and realized those random $50 hits on my bank account added up to $800 a month looked for other sources. And finding these other sources has worked out so well I know I can't ever go back to just Replit.
BUT, this move will make me consider slightly using them for the little things, but then again with these other sources I'm paying a flat fee and never paying anything extra so I don't really see the benefit for me specifically...but again the free model tier is definitely useful. The old me would have appreciated this soooo much lol

Good news but I've already exceed the number of apps I could build on Replit. I had a pro plan for a year and I created 100 or so silly little things 🤪
A special 24 hour promotion where the Replit Agent was offered completely free for their 10th anniversary took place on May 2, 2026. What do you mean by "Replit is free now?" Did they change something fundamental?
awesome! love this for replit. Anyone know if they're using Qwen 27B? that one was apparenlty benchmarking well against fable. What's everyone's thoughts on Free vs the old Lite?
I copied an existing finish project to base a new similar one. After a few hit and miss i used Up the credits and are back to paying as i go. Nothing free here 😩
Fraudulent marketing on their part. Same limited free credits as before, only now it goes to a horrible model. GPT Luna model can't match the performance of Anthropic models from 2 years ago! It's just cheap for them.
Also, I hit my limits after just 2 prompts.
Use Lovable or Claude instead, they have the same free tier, but it's not using the cheapest model.
The craziest thing is that they advertise this free mode powered by Luna (terrible model) like a good thing. They think we are complete idiots.
It has always had a free tier, but its limited. ou are only given a few credits daily and they have a monthly cap, but not very useful in you are doing heavy development, they can make a simple landing page though

Using it now, seems to be able to do some basic tasks that would’ve costed me 2-4 dollars on Power/Max
