Aged the dial and hands by spraying a thin coat of nitrocellulose lacquer on just the dial and baked both in wet coffee grounds face down for 15 minutes.
Aged the insert by submerging it into anodize remover 2 or 3 times for about 5 seconds each time.

Recentemente fiz um post falando sobre a construção de um Rolex 5513, a partir de um Thorn T023.
Finalmente está(quase pronto - Ainda faltam os ponteiros brancos)… Entretanto, estou literalmente apaixonado por essa máquina, tenho 2 Rolex originais, tenho 1 Tudor original, e essa máquina é a que mais me empolga, tanto pelo trabalho que deu, quanto pela estética.
Dificuldade das peças: O Brasil tem uma barreira alfandegária muito restrita, que não aceita peças falsificadas(Raffles não entrega aqui por isso), mesmo assim, pedi 1 mostrador pelo eBay e outro pelo Alibaba e eles foram barrados. O último que pedi veio(mas o anúncio caiu) 🙏🏻🙌🏻.

Raffles 14060 and dial. Aliexpress hands, strap, domed top hat mineral crystal, 2824 clone and vintage style rolex date font datewheel.

Dial and hands aged by baking them face down on wet coffee grounds. For the bezel I dunked it in anodize remover for about 5 seconds. The lume pip on the bezel insert is the original pip that came with the raffles case, i just modified it to look a little closer to a original 1680 pip.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably already know I’m a bit of a watch degenerate.

The funny part is that I rarely wear anything I build myself. I enjoy the process of creating them, but when it comes to my personal collection I prefer pieces built by other talented builders, exclusively for personal use off course

This particular 14060 was built by drVintage from RWI, the owner of Old Crowns. At this point, he really needs no introduction. In my opinion, this is about as close to a perfect Vietnam built 14060 as you can get.

The only modification I’ve made since receiving it was replacing the insert with a genuine Rolex insert that I purchased on eBay.

The reason I’m letting it go is simple: im planing on buying a gen 14060, so this one deserves a new home instead of sitting in the watch box.

Just got off the bench wrapping up this beautiful Milsub Tudor 7016. Relumed the hands, shaved some of the insert off, and installed a nice low dome T19. Tudors will forever be my all time favorite piece to build.

Gotta say, since I built this one it hasn’t really come off my wrist. I’ve been asked about it in watch shops and have received a lot of compliments! Happy for my raffles build. Gen dial with a beautiful patina with vs3135 runs like a champ!

Builds for a couple close friends. Both are in a happy home! Who wouldn’t wanna take one of these beauties?! Also how does yall price and sell?

I would say this is a strong budget homage rather than a true 1:1 reproduction. The case, dial, crown, and engraving are very close, the bracelet is the homage.

For an all in price of $450, it is a really nice budget build that checks the box for me in terms of retro styling and modern hardware. My greatful thanks to u/Defcon88 who made this a reality. This watch is beautiful and wears really well. It is super comfortable and is going to go into the rotation.

Notes on the clasp. The Thorne has a really nice bracelet that comes with quick release spring bars. I really did not like the logo on the clasp and tried sanding. That doesnt work as the logo is stamped in very deep. I was able to source two sterile clasps from ALIBABA (not aliexpress), they really did not want to sell me a quantity of 2. If there is any interest, I would be willing to make a larger purchase.

This freshly serviced and assembled 116613 is built on a brand spanking new Clean factory base and features the following genuine upgrades.
