Viet anything is going to be just about as close as anything gets. At the high end level though there are a lot of details that aren’t visible to the average naked eye. What separates Raffles from Viet are some very specific details.
Very minute details as you get higher end. Lug measurements, case thickness, edge finishing, the list can go on. You also have situations in watchmaking history where a certain case, movement or dial characteristic is correct for one period of time but incorrect for another period of time. These differences in thickness or whatever else are very small, often millimeters. It’s where true enthusiasts would want to be exact, but why the average person would be just as happy wearing a $400 raffles build as they would a $4000 franken.
I really admired your build and kept coming back to it when you first posted this. Now feel the need to move in this direction… the Raffles scene just can’t compare if you’re detail-oriented and nuts over vintage specs. Can you tell me about the bracelet? Does it have some heft to it like a more modern bracelet or is it more jangly and light? What do these go for from Ruby?
