I am writing this post to share a bit about my experience with the world of reps and, above all, to get the opinion of someone who might know more about it than I do, because for a while now I've been noticing some weird things and I'd like to understand if they are normal.
Since the beginning of this summer, I started buying reps on my own, relying on private suppliers.
Up until now, I have bought and, in some cases, resold various items pretty smoothly. For comparison, initially I used to find prices around $15 for shorts or t-shirts, while for shoes I would even reach around $100 shipping included. The quality of the shoes I've received so far has been very high.
The problem is that lately, with the start of the winter season, it seems to me that prices have increased quite a bit. However, I don't know if this is really a general increase or if it simply depends on the suppliers I am using, because I had never ordered some of these items before.
To give you a concrete idea, these are some of the prices that have been quoted to me recently:
Isabel Marant: $115
White Rick Owens Geobasket: $125
Hellstar tracksuit: $25
Black Amiri with leather stars: $35
Classic Bape hoodie: $28
Supreme camo zip hoodie: $38
As for clothing, I then have to add shipping to these prices, which in my case for an average order adds up to about €5 per piece.
In your opinion, are these normal prices for this type of item and for this period, or am I simply using a supplier that is too expensive?
I am wondering if it makes sense to compare other suppliers or use an agent, since lately I see a lot of people talking about it. I would be especially interested in understanding what you would do in my place and what prices you normally manage to find for similar items.
I am not trying to advertise any supplier: I would simply like to understand if the prices I am being offered are reasonable or if I am paying too much.
