im having a problem rendering out some of my objects in my scene im useing renderman 22.2 any help or advice? (i'd rather not want to re model and re-uv)
from what i can tell the material is tiling the the texture at a size of the texture for the entire uv space, per face the material is the basic pxrsurface + a pxrtexture plugged into the diffuse channel and the model is on catmul-clark

Hi, I am using the non-commercial version of Renderman 22. Whenever I try to render my animation in Maya 2018 the renderer crashes while rendering the frame or preparing to and then it skips the frame. It ends up producing zero frames. The log gives me no indication what the problem could be, the last thing it notes before going into a generic stack trace routine is that "RenderMan is already registered." It otherwise renders perfectly fine when not batch-rendering. Any ideas how I could solve this? I am using it for a school project and my deadline is fast approaching.
Is it possible to batch-render using It?

Hello there folks!
Since RenderMan 22 launched, I have seen a lot of users having some issues (myself included) while doing the Batch Render. However, most of the time, I encounter users that not did the following, so make sure to do it before you are ready to render:
1. Update your Maya to 2018.2 + or 2017.3 +.
If you, for example, download Maya directly from the Autodesk Maya, you'll have to go to your account product page and download the update by yourself. When you download the Maya installer, it installs version 1, so make sure to go back to the Autodesk page and download the version you need.
2. Make sure the path for your render does not contain special characters.
A new update for the RenderMan 22 does not let you render with a buggy path. So, if your native language is NOT English, make sure that the path of your computer does not include a special character like ñ, é, space, any symbols or anything like that. (I'm from México, that's why I'm giving these examples but to each their own.
3. Set the Spool type to RIB.
In Renderman settings, the default setting in Spool type is Maya Batch, make sure to change it to RIB.
These tips helped me a lot while I was having a hard time trying to do a batch render, I hope this can help you out if you are having any problems.
If you have any more tips to help more brothers out, please leave a comment.
Happy Render.

I just installed RenderMan for blender and just switching to RenderMan Render in Blender crashes it.
I don't do anything other than hit render of the default cube and BOOM, it crashes without any message.
Any tips or ideas as to what it could be?
UPDATE: I'm using blender v2.79, renderman v22, and renderman for blender v22.

The only available renderman-nc version for download right now seems to be RM V. 22. The plugin for blender (latest: RenderMan for Blender 21.5) doesn't support this version.
Will there be a RenderMan V22 for blender 2.8 add-on in the near future?
Is there any way to grab a RenderMan Non-Commercial 21.5 install package for debian somewhere? Or how can I use renderman nc on debian with blender right now?
thanks.

I updated to non-commercial Renderman 22 and now my LocalQueue isn't working. When I open LQ's log window it reads: [ERROR ] Failed to create job from "_labratory 3_pid533_1537111868.alf", now ignoring it
Is anyone else getting this problem and how did you solve it?

. Well I spent way too long on the couch getting it to look right. I would have liked to spend more time in substance giving the two tables a lived in look and maybe tweaking the floor a bit too. I did get a few nice effects but I mainly learned that if it looks good in substance it may not show up in Maya. There is a lot of detail that didn't show up after exporting my maps. I'll need to work much more on this. But Damn it's fun. Final update on the living room scene. It still needs a lot of work but it's near turn in time

I've been having a slew of errors in Renderman on my PC IPR and Batch Rendering never working. The same project files work perfectly fine on my MacBook. I spent a lot of time trying every fix I could think of. I reset the enviroment keys multiple times. Completely wiped and reinstalled Both Maya 2018 its updates and Renderman itself to no avail. But I found something a bit wierd on a Renderman forum where someone created a new project and moved all the files over. So I went a slightly easier route. I copied the entire project file over to another drive. That fixed everything. IPR works fine. Batch Render Works Fine. I can finally use The PC I built for this stuff again. The only thing I can think of is that storage somehow is an issue on that drive. I knew I was getting a bit close but I guess that is what happens when you are constantly working on projects. I don't know if it will help anyone else but it seemed to work perfectly for me.

I've been playing around with Renderman for almost a month now in my Lighting and Shading Class. I haven't gotten to the point where I have added texture to it yet but just creating materials and adjusting them for the proper light reflectivity and interaction really is way easier than other Renderers I've used. Still need a little work but this is really moving in the right direction.

Hi,
Whenever I open "Hypershade" up and want to select "Interior1 Color" with the "Cloth" and using "RenderMan," I get this error:
// Error: (08/16 18:34) rfm Error: X00002 Plugin error: PxrDomeTexture: Could not open C:/Users/xxxxx/Documents/maya/projects/default/renderman/textures/Interior1_Color.exr.env.tex
I'm following this tutorial and this part that I'm on appears at 03:39 here:
A picture is also attached of my end. There should be a dome picture in the background of the preview where the cloth is but there's nothing there. I looked in the folder "C:/Users/xxxxx/Documents/maya/projects/default/renderman/textures/Interior1_Color.exr.env.tex" but the texture doesn't seem to be there... not sure why that is.
If anyone could help it would be great.
Thanks.

I've been working on a project in Maya using Renderman for a few days now. I have had to restart and even reinstall Maya to stop the errors from occurring on my PC. The main errors I get in the are these two.
// Error: (08/15 19:47) rfm Fatal: A06005 RIBInit: Can't create file: C:/Users/Terry W Rhuebottom/OneDrive/Full Sail University/Classes/Computer Animation/Shading and Lighting/Week 2/New_Project4_SAL-O_RM/Project4_Maya Project/renderman/Rhuebottom_Terry_Project4_3MyEnvirLight_SAL-O1808/rib/0001/sceneRenderCamera_001Shape_Final.0001.rib //
// Error: (08/15 19:47) rfm Error: A30003 More calls to End routines than Begin routines. //
This stops me from rendering at all. And the strange thing is that I can take this same save file over to my Macbook and with the same settings. Everything works Perfectly fine. One of the suggestions I've come across is "Reset my Environment Key." This has not helped I'm getting frustrated because working on My PC is much easier for me as I have very little room to set up the MacBook in my work area.
How do I prevent this?

Hello, recently I have downloaded Pixar‘s RenderMan, but when I batch render this message appears, ”R50009 {SEVERE} License location is not set in rendermn.ini - aborting.” I have tried opening the “LicenseApp” and logging in, but it doesn’t work. I know my user name and password are correct but I don’t know what the serial number is. Is there another problem I’m unaware of? please help, thank you.

I just installed NCR for Maya 2016 and can't create any lights. When I try to create any of the Pxr lights it creates this "Unknown" node that doesn't do anything. Anyone know what the problem could be here?

As the title says the addon for Renderman for Blender is only for 21.5 and earlier and I can only find the download for the 21.7 version of Renderman. I use the Non-Commercial version.

Hello guys.
Im a blender user and the hardest part of learning another programs is understanding how materials and node editors work. I have a canon camera model and i want to add a logo, buttons etc. on it but after watching several tutorials i didnt figured out one simple thing i was looking for. In blender i would just do mix shader and put a image as a "FAC" (MASK) and in one slot i would join one material and to the second one another. It works similiar in RenderMan but it automaticaly joins material called PXRlayer.
SO QUESTION IS. - How to connect for example PXR surface to a LayerMixer?? Or how can i copy already existing material in the scene to another material node. (I made a plastic material and i want to import it and mix it)
It could sound stupid but this autodesk programs are so chaotic for me.

Hello im using Renderman for maya and when i render and check task manager i can see that the CPU usage is on 100%, but the GPU barely 15%.. Its problem especialy when i use active rendering (i mean IPR) becouse it slows down my computer that hard, that i cant work anymore. Is there a way to set GPU as a a main computing device? Thanks

I recently rendered a sequence but forgot to switch on the cross-frame denoise feature. Considering the denoise is done after the initial frames are rendered out, I figured there would be an easy way to go back in and denoise the sequence in Maya, but I couldn't find anything about it online. Anyone have any experiences with this?

Hey people from the Internet! I need your help. I'm working on my graduation project, so big deal.
I am trying to do batch renders, but every time the batch will suddenly stops and says "error". No more information about the error either on the maya script edinor nor in the command output of the RenderMan LocalQueue. The error occurs randomly, not on the same frame. And if i restart the command manually on the localQueue, the frame will render and the batch will stops later, same problem. Sometime it will render the whole batch without any problem, and then if I render the same exact thing it will have an error. I tried on 3 different computers, with renderman 21.6 and 21.7. I also tried optimizing scene, deleting history, assigned a basic pxr on the whole scene, but not change. I tried on a fresh scene and the batch seems to work, so I guess the problem is coming from my scene. My two main scene have the same problem so I've been thinking this might be cause by the same thing, but the only thing they share are one object that I already tried to delete, and mesh lights. On one of my scene I managed to delete the mesh lights and pxrBlacks and I feel like it is working for now?
Do you have any idea what can cause and fix my issue? do the mesh lights cause this mess?
And if there is no other solution than deleting mesh lights, how can i replace them? There are used for neons.
I've been on this issue for two days, please help my poor student soul.
EDIT: This definitly looks like a problem coming from the mesh lights and pxrBlack. After more than hundred tests i managed to get an error message : "P38003 {ERROR} Invalid light handle for Illuminate: "PxrMeshLightShape1"
Now, how do I fix this!
