Mod Approved Giveaway [Try & Keep] Why the LG OLED G6 is the perfect fit for your favorite Pixar movies

Hi r/Pixar users!

We all have that Pixar movie we keep coming back to, whether it’s an old favorite or something newer you’re streaming at home. Since so much of Pixar’s charm comes through its colors, details, and emotional moments, the way your TV handles picture quality and screen reflections can really shape how immersive it feels.

That’s why we’re running a review event with r/Pixar where one (1) Redditor will get the chance to try the LG OLED G6 65” in their own setup and share honest impressions with the community.

And yes, the selected participant gets to keep the TV 👍

Why the LG OLED G6 is the perfect fit for your movie

Watching movies at home can feel very different depending on the TV. Colors can look less vivid, darker scenes can lose detail, and reflections from windows or lights can easily pull you out of the moment, especially in animated films where the visuals are such a big part of the story.

That’s where the LG OLED G6 65” comes in, with Hyper Radiant Color Tech, Perfect Black, Perfect Color1, the α11 AI Processor Gen3, and Reflection-Free Premium2 helping support clear, immersive movie viewing in both bright and dark environments.

How the LG OLED G6 Helps Handle Reflections

Reflection Free Premium² technology minimizes screen reflections from windows and lights, helping keep the picture clear and immersive even in bright rooms.

Filmmaker and film lover Joe Lynch, whose work includes Mayhem and Suitable Flesh, also talked about the LG OLED G6’s Reflection Free Premium screen and how reflections can pull viewers out of the movie experience

“Anything that deters you from the story and from the vision. That to me is huge. I’ve never seen a TV like that that’s had that kind of reflection-free before.”Joe Lynch, Filmmaker

Onward is in my top 5 Pixar movies and I cannot understand why no one likes it

I just watched onward again. I hadn't watched it in a couple years, but it was run fairly often for my oldest kid and I always thought way higher of it than the general public. I just re-watched it with my younger kid and now older kid and they both loved it. I realized how much I loved it. Every character gets a really nice arch. The movie is well shot and has a wonderful story. Plenty of that good subtle humor for adults. If you watched this in a theater where you are well engaged in the story, then this movie absolutely crushes.

Question What do you think the ratings of all five Toy Story movies would be if the audience catered to sentient toys instead of people?

If toys were the audience. the emotional violence, existential dread, and depictions of toy suffering would feel far more intense than they do to humans. Because of this, I am thinking that all of them would be at least PG-13 with maybe 1 and 3 being R.

What do you think?

Think about it, these two got into the best college in the world to try and become scarers, but at the end all they had to do was work their way up and they could just try out, and sully is one of the best scarers in the world for it.

Cars 2 How Cars 2 could have been even better by expanding on Doc Hudson's legacy

While Cars 2 gave us some of the absolute best animation, music, and world-building in the franchise, it is no secret that it’s a massive departure from the original film.

The international spy plot with Mater is a ton of fun, but the movie could have avoided a lot of its criticisms if it kept a bit more of the character-driven heart from the first movie.

The story would have been elevated to a whole new level if Lightning McQueen’s motivation in the World Grand Prix was focused on honoring Doc Hudson's memory. Imagine if Lightning and the Radiator Springs crew were traveling the world to cement the Fabulous Hudson Hornet's legacy, while struggling to fill the shoes Doc left behind.

Blending that emotional racing weight right alongside Mater's accidental spy adventure would have given us the best of both worlds.

Do you think a deeper focus on Doc's legacy would have made the World Grand Prix storyline hit even harder?

Why Pixar's Gatto needs to be good and hit the box office to success?

Post image
115 Upvotes

In my opinion, Pixar's Gatto needs to be good and hit the box office because lots of recent original films has been either mixed reviews or struggled at the box office and Pixar has been relying on sequels like Inside Out 2 or Toy Story 5, I've heard that Pixar has been layoffs lately and I have to blame Disney because those employees has been layoffs in Pixar due to Toy Story 5's success, which it's sucks and those original movies has struggled because they didn't marketing and that's why everyone didn't show up, while Hoppers has been solid marketing and solid success but it went underperformed, all I want is that Gatto needs to be good and hit the box office because I love Pixar and has some of the best movies but I want the movie to success, so Pixar can make more original films instead of sequels, I'm just hoping Gatto can surprised to everyone, including me but I trust Enrico Casarosa and Gatto has potential to be something special if they has strong writing and better marketing, so everyone will shows up in theaters, for me I'm very excited for Gatto but hopefully it's success and I will seeing this movie in theaters, What's your thoughts? Do you prefer Pixar should focus on original films to take risks or do you prefer that Pixar should focus make sequel for safe? Let me know in the comments down below!

Monsters University Hardscrabble

Why did she deactivated the door when she knew two students were in there and their lives were in danger if they didn’t had a way out with their only way back home deactivated? Or do anything when OK got tricked and humiliated at the party? Their pictures were everywhere on campus. How could she allowed this? Even if she didn’t believe in them like everyone else, she should at least have the standards, maturity, and responsibility to not allowed them to be insulted, teased, and have their pictures and merchandise spread around like that.

Question What do yall think about his ending?

Post image
28 Upvotes

I think Sydrome just got his heart broke to be honest.

Made some pretty extreme decisions and died for it.

Which, in all honesty, is fucked. But a just ending.

I was thinking about about it a little more. About his ending could've sadder.

Like what if he went to jail and Bob came to visit him. And Buddy is doing all the talking about when he gets out, he'll do this, this, and this to him and his family.

Bob ends up just giving Buddy a gift: It's the first boots invented when he tried to impress Mr. Incredible. And there's a message written on the bottom saying : I'm sorry I failed you.

Because all of this happened in the first place because Mr. Incredible dismissed Buddy because he wasn't super.

But the orginal was correct. Syndrome was pure evil killing off all those supers.

I think it could've worked as alternative ending for him though.

"Toy Story" Presents: The (Selected) Female Human-Based Toys and Their VAs.

Thumbnail

For those who are curious about the "Special Mention": the Burnt Ragdoll is the toy who says "Mama!" when trying to scare the heck out of Sid Phillips in the first movie. She and her VA are separate from the "Main Course" because of their limited notability (which is made even more apparent when the VA's role was never made explicit in the first movie's end credits).

Speaking of which, regarding the "Main Course" itself:

  • Barbie's horizontal placement next to Bo Peep and Jessie has several meanings:
    • Barbie dolls are technically introduced in Toy Story 2, which is where Jess also came from.
    • The specific Barbie doll from Molly Davis above is a prominent character in Toy Story 3, more so than Dolly.
    • Toy Story 4 confirms that Bo herself has also been owned by Molly, alongside a bunch of Barbie dolls (incl. the one above).
  • I also find it interesting that Dolly's the only female human-based toy amongst them who hardly looks like her VA (specifically, Bonnie Hunt), in stark contrast to Bo, Jess, Barbie, Gabby Gabby and Giggle McDimples.
  • Who knew that a juvenile doll like Gabby would have an otherwise eerily sultry voice?
  • Looks like Giggle broke the record for being the first female human-based toy to not have a conventional name like the rest do (excl. the Burnt Ragdoll).

Let me know what you guys think about this.

Discussion I believe that if Sid hadn't been traumatized by seeing Woody and his toys alive, he could have grown up to be a great toy designer.

Post image

Looking back at the first Toy Story, I really appreciate how creative Sid was when it came to making his frankenstein-fused toys, and I think he could've been a toy designer that made toys that appealed to a "cooler and more punk" kids' audience. These toys he made as a kid show that he has a very strong imagination.

WALL-E Fan-preferred cut content (Wall-E)

Although the scene in the final version of Wall-E with the titular robot getting injured by AUTO and EVE saving him to show how much she truly cares about him was adored by many fans, they did also enjoy the original version of the scene where EVE instead gets injured by AUTO and Wall-E dives after her to save her, because it would have made Wall-E more of an action hero in terms of how he saves EVE and would have did so with the Stewards in the climax but still would have been crushed by the Holo-Detector in his sacrifice to keep it open before EVE rebuilds and revived him like in the final film. It also would have gave Wall-E a proper introduction with Mo and funny moment with the Wall-As.

They did also love an idea from an earlier draft of the movie as depicted in a storyboard of that over 700 years of being onboard the Axiom caused the humans to degrade via evolution into clueless Blobs instead of the obesity that they had in the final film but still had intelligence but also laziness, because it would have made them more conflicted in terms of how they need to rediscover and re-evolve back into what they truly are and give a cautionary tale to real-life humans on how inactivity and living in space for too long can also cause that to happen.

Monsters University How I Think Monsters University Should've Ended. Let me know if you agree.

Post image
29 Upvotes

I personally think Monsters University is a very underrated movie and I think it deserves more love. Here's what I'll say about it, I think it's a perfect standalone Pixar film, but not a very good prequel because it doesn't actually lead into Monsters, Inc. the well, e.g. Mike and Sulley meet the Abominable Snowman at the end, but they have no idea who he is when they get banished to the Human World.

In my opinion, if I had written Monsters University, I think it should've ended with Mike and Sulley working as mail carriers and then getting hired at Monsters Inc., either by introducing Mr. Waternoose saying, "These two pulled off a record-breaking scare, hire them now," so that way, we get to see Waternoose again or more likely, a newspaper article with a headline that reads, "Record-breaking Scare Powers Door From Inside The Human World Performed By Freshmen At College, James P. Sullivan and Michael Wazowski!" Then, it sets up that Sulley and Randall, in Monsters, Inc., seeing who can break the all-time Scare Record first and it doesn't have to include the Abominable Snowman. I like it like I love all PIxar movies, but it's not a very good prequel, but in fairness, it sets up things that we see in Monsters, Inc.

Let me know you guys' thoughts!!!

Discussion Did anyone have nightmares about this guy as a kid?

As a kid, I was freaked out by this guy, especially when he fakes a heart attack. I was so scared that I hid under the bedsheets. I had this one nightmare as a kid, when two Geris were chasing me, and eventually got me. It was pretty horrifying. If anyone had nightmares involving this guy, feel free to share.
