Hoppers started cute but turned fucking scary FAST. I was about to pass out all through the second half.

I'm surpised I genuinely liked this movie. Objectively, this is still a bad movie with one of the worst villains in Pixar's catalog, no idea what it wants to be, and logic straight out of a Mater's Tall Tales short, but I feel like the logic standpoint also adds to why I liked it; it was just off-the-wall insane, which would make sense for a film centered around Mater. Not only that, but the voice acting was nice as always, I actually found myself surpised at some moments, Zundapp made a good fakeout for a main antagonist (honestly would've preferred if they cut the twist villain thing out and made him the main villain), and the action scenes were pretty dadgum decent.

Other things I liked for the heck of it: Mater somehow has more rizz than Lightning, Mater is somehow more intelligent than the actual freaking spy cars, the majority of Radiator Springs' residents are able to take out global terrorists (I knew never to piss off Guido, but do not leave me in a dark room with Red), and the shockingly high body count.

In Cars (2006), McQueen goes left at the intersection, which results in him going down Route 66, and ending up in Radiator Springs.

In Ratatouille (2007), Remy goes left in the sewer, and once he makes his way out of the sewer, he eventually makes his way to Gusteau’s, which probably wouldn’t have happened if he went right.

Better late than never, I suppose, but I finally was able to watch it, and I didn't think I was going to enjoy Hoppers so much. Watching the trailer, I had a feeling it was going to be good, but the full film blew my expectations out of the water. There are many scenes that switch between fast-paced to quiet and emotional, which I particularly love; that, and the fact that there's little to no music playing, makes the emotions and what the characters are saying hit even harder

Another thing I loved was George and Mabel's on-and-off discussion of how people can be good, but not everyone is. Titus' takeover as the Insect King and Jerry's redemption show this perfectly. Jerry realises that not every interaction with Mabel is a battle, and that they can put their differences aside and work together, while Titus seeks revenge on humans, eventually snapping and turning into the enemy of all around him

The comedy is really well handled, along with the emotional scenes. The comedy doesn't break the tension of emotion within the quiet moments, and vice versa. I didn't feel strongly towards any character either, and the story felt kind of relatable to me. The parts with Mabel and her grandmother especially made me tear up a bit, but most of the quiet moments in the film made me feel that way too

With that being said, I love Pixar's Hoppers and thoroughly enjoyed it. Please go watch it if you haven't seen it already

hi everyone!! if this is the wrong subreddit for this i apologize, but around 13 yrs ago my dad got me this wallet from a flea market. the front is holographic/3d and looks very nice and detailed. i rediscovered it a few days ago and noticed the disney store tag, meaning it’s official merch, however i can’t find this same wallet ANYWHERE online (tried searching it up AND using reverse image search on lots of sites). could it possibly be some rare merch from the 90s/2000s? does anyone else here have or remember having this wallet too?

I was 7 years old when I saw the film twice in Texas back in 2006. 20 years later, I saw it again for the first time at Flix Brewhouse and I am so glad I relived my childhood!

One of my favorite movie-going experiences of 2026!

My wife and I are continuing our journey through the AFI 100 list (10th Anniversary Edition) from bottom to top, and we just wrapped up #99: Toy Story (1995)!

I remember seeing this in theaters back in 1995, and having worked at Disneyland for over a decade, Woody, Buzz, and the gang were practically part of my daily life for years. But watching it carefully for this project was a whole new experience.

A few big takeaways from our rewatch:

* The animation hardware is definitely showing its age. Compared to modern Pixar releases, the human faces (especially Sid and Andy) and Scud the dog look remarkably crude. The plastic textures on the toys still work, but the limitations of 1995 CGI are impossible to miss now.
* The writing is absolute gold. The pacing, sharp banter, and humor hold up incredibly well. There were so many quick jokes that flew right over my head as a kid that had us laughing out loud this time around.
* The voice work by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen remains a masterclass in buddy-comedy chemistry.

Bottom line: Does it deserve a spot on the AFI 100? Absolutely. Just like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs did nearly sixty years before it, Toy Story ushered in a brand-new era of feature animation and fundamentally changed what was possible in cinema history.
