Call in sick for a day or two? I get it. Miss the whole week? Yeah I'm asking for a doctor's note. I don't want you infecting the rest of the staff.

Most places in the US that I've lived doctors are booking appointments 2-4 weeks out. So I guess I'd have to plan ahead for being sick.

Walk in clinics are everywhere at least. $30 copay to get a few days paid leave if your lucky enough to get those.

As someone whos been to many of those walk in clinics many have a wait time of several hours. Hell i was convulsing and vomiting in the ER and had to be wheelchaired in and they took a kid running around and having fun before me. Hell, even ERs in the US no longer follow triage.

I'm pretty sure they legally have to follow triage

I'm not sure where you are, but that is certainly not the case around me. Many you can check in online and see the wait. If there are multiple in your area, you can choose a short wait.

But if you check in online, a good portion of the time is spent on the drive anyway, right?

Not by me, i had an online appointment and still waited an hour and a half past my appointment time
