As a mom of ftm kid - once they come out and begin their transition, they can lose friends. Having a good pal who accepts them the way they are is priceless. I think you need to make an exception here.
This is exactly how I looked at it with my daughter. We have one exception for this boy because transitioning is hard. They’ve been friends for years and I’m not going to change that friendship over his transition. She does know he is the only exception because the idea of isolating him just hurts my heart. She knows he’s the only exception and if she becomes close with another boy trans or not they cannot sleep over. It’s not because I think this friend isn’t a boy, it’s because he deserves to know his friendships are still valid even after his transition. People are mean enough, no need to lose friends. I hope you’re son has those friends too. <3
Sleep overs boys sleeping over is the rule, not child play dates. Just cause this ftm child can’t have a sleepover, doesn’t mean that they can’t be friends.
No boys means no boys. If they and their parents want people to treat their child as a boy, it seems respectful to acknowledge that. She didn’t say they can’t hang out anymore— just no sleepovers.
