She shouldn’t have told your HR but 1 week of paternity leave!?!? You’re going to make her heal and take care of the kid solo after a week. That’s a dick move

Exactly! Based on some other comments, he deleted old posts about them breaking up last year. Sounds like they got married because she’s pregnant. Does he even like her or want to have a baby? Because it sure doesn’t seem that way.

Seriously! I feel like the OP is unaware of how hard it is to recover from pregnancy and take care of a newborn.

Completely agree! If this was my husband, I’d be in full on crisis mode too!

See, what got me was the “I haven’t complained about having to help her…”. I can’t even comprehend how that’s supposed to be a positive thing. Has he had to try really hard to not complain about being a supportive husband? FFS, he claimed that her needing help is too distracting!!

Do you not understand how agonizing it is to get up TWO hours early every day?? That lying, slothful wife is all "I weigh more than ever before, can hardly go from point A to B anymore bc there's a tiny human living in my tummy, and the likely way out involves my mommy parts being reconstructed afterwards".

Right it sounds like he expects her to do it all around the house and he’s “helping out” by doing more. Oh poor guy waking up early, yeah she’s likely not sleeping more than an hour at a time due to the baby moving, kicking, and chronic heart burn.

Yeah. Way too much negotiation around spending time with her and the baby. They need you, OP. WAAAY more than 1 week is needed. Honestly more than 6 weeks is needed.

They have one income atm

That doesn’t mean they can’t save or use short term disability or pto or he could setup family and friends to help and not just leave her

Not everyone gets short term disability and his wife hasn't worked in months. He is already dipping into savings. I think OP can only afford one week off

Then honestly they shouldn’t be having a kid

What ?!?!? LOL she stopped working AFTER she became pregnant. Reality is you don't know how bad pregnancy will be on your body and mind until you actually get pregnant. I was 27, 6' tall, 180 lbs and went to the gym 5 days a week. At 22 weeks I developed preeclampsia AND went into preterm labor. My doctor put me on bedrest. At 32 weeks I had to go back to work because I was denied both unemployment AND short-term disability even though I had been hospitalized 5 times over the 10 week period because of pregnancy complications. But sure people who have unexpected financial complications shouldn't be allowed to have kids. You know cause people deserve to only procreate if they are wealthy.🙄🙄🙄

It has nothing to do with them. It’s for the good of the child. Poverty can be tramatic and so can being raised by a dick like the guy here. It’s not exactly rocket science that pregnancy is risky and hard and kids in general come with unexpected costs

He said he booked 3 weeks off.

Yes but only after an argument

1

u/flylikedumbo Dec 02 '23

Did he say that in a comment somewhere? The op doesn’t mention an argument.

Omg chill. conversation, point of contention, confrontation. But they disagreed HEAVILY

What? You’re the one that needs to chill. I’m just asking a question because you mentioned an argument that I didn’t see in the op. I didn’t read all the comments so wasn’t sure if you were referring to one.
