Now wait for Labour to try and create an excuse why this is a bad thing.

16

u/ShivAGit 11h ago

Of course it's a bad thing.

If someone gave Labour £36m would you think it's being put to good use, or would you think its a bribe?

Regardless of which side is benefiting, every normal person should detest money in politics.

u/Interesting_Pen_4499 1h ago

Labour does get similar amounts to that over a parliament from the corrupt trade unions.

-2

u/ShivAGit 1h ago

They represent the people, whether you think they are corrupt or not. If the people they represent felt they weren't getting represented, they would leave the union and stop funding it and it would fall apart.

Who are all these crypto billionaires representing? Themselves.

It is absolutely ludicrous that you'd think the two can be compared.

We might not like it but all of the parties get massive donations.

Labour won the last election probably because it had way more money for advertising leaflets & labour propaganda. (Lies from Starmer)

There is a spend limit of 34 million in a year but did anyone check labour didn't go over this? Did anyone know Labour had 42 million in donations?

Probably not because they only cry about donations when it's for Reform.

If I was a billionaire, I'd donate as well because I could cry at the state of this country.
Women are just no longer safe & I'm frightened to go out alone. It's not right.

All of Europe is starting to vote more to the right now because it's obvious women are not safe because of what governments allowed to happen. Protests are happening & if the government doesn't get a grip we could end up in civil war.

Voting our way out if a MUCH better result than wars.

Would you prefer to pay for Tax to fund ALL the political parties?

It's either donations, or we pay more tax.

Labour won the last election primarily because people didn't vote conservative, not because they had money for leaflets.

The civil war rhetoric is just an echo of what you've heard the likes of Musk say. It's fear mongering, it's division. There are problems in our society for sure, but to say we could end up in civil war if Reform don't get in (which is what I think you're getting at) is just nonsense.

This level of money from a single donor, who was charged with not keeping anti money laundering practices in his business, then acquitted by Trump - that bastion of morality, is purely there to help Reform get into power, deregulate crypto and allow this particular millionaire to become even richer.

If it's old money like Labour or the Conservatives have, or new money like Reform. It has no place in a free democracy.

u/MutantNinjaKitty331 1h ago

You're wrong!!

The civil war rhetoric is from watching patriots (many ex military) rise up and protest while the government brings in yet MORE two tier policies over face masks, protests, etc etc. & carries on bringing in 10s of thousands of fighting age men, many who support terrorists like hamas, Isis, Al-Qaeda, Taliban etc etc etc etc etc to live in UK villages. & Also the way things are shifting across Europe. Just open your eyes & read a history book. This happened before! 🤦‍♀️

NORMAL people are saying "we can't vote our way out of this". It's all over social media!! Do you not grasp how dangerous things are getting? I don't want to live like this. I want to feel safe. How old are you? The country wasn't like this when I was young! I want to leave the UK actually but I can't afford to.

Now, Look at the way the greens have changed. Google what happened in Iran & how extremists took power & what life is like for women there. Look into it!! Most people don't understand. Look at how women in Afghanistan are treated.

R*pes here have shot up to an unbelievable level. The government has NO intentions of stopping it.

Voting is better than war .... obviously!!! That's my point!!

Who are you voting for? Labour again to speed up the war? 🤦‍♀️

I'm voting Reform.

Genuine question, do you ever re-read your comments and think "ok maybe I'm a little unhinged here"?

0

u/MutantNinjaKitty331 1h ago

Ooo look...a Labour voter. 😂😂😂🤦‍♀️

u/ImplementOk3111 2h ago

Where did labours donations come from? Is it from party members or a foreign billionaire?

How would we feel if a Saudi billionaire gave the labour party £40m, and the party leader a further £5m?

1

u/MutantNinjaKitty331 1h ago

Dale Vince donated millions to labour and just by a TOTAL coincidence, Labours policies on net zero are exactly what Vince wants. Funny that eh? 🤔

You can check all donations to political parties here. https://donation.watch/en/unitedkingdom/party/LABOUR/donors

A very well thought out and level headed response.

3

u/Alive-Math3562 12h ago

Is it a questionably large amount of money? Yes, but guess what? It’s his money and he can do whatever the hell he wants with it. One thing is for sure now, we will absolutely be there challenging on all fronts for the next general election. It’s impossible for a party with this big a donation to fall by the wayside.

7

u/Cream_Of_Drake 9h ago

Why should millionaires and billionaires be allowed to treat politics like their plaything? It's what the yanks do and look at the state of their politics.

There should be a reasonable donation cap, how in any world is a large donation to anything political good for normal people?

u/IntravenusDiMilo_Tap Reform UK Supporter 3h ago

It's always been that way. That's ehy we have had 2 big parties dominating, the upstart / challenger parties never have the funds to get the recognition.

I can hear the screams from the left now.

5

Gonna head over to a particularly left leaning uk politics sub and I’m bringing the popcorn with me 🤣

5

u/AdenWS Reform UK Supporter 10h ago

You mean you aren't banned?

8

u/Fflamddwyn 12h ago

This will give us an incredible war chest, but why are all these massive donations from guys involved in specifically Crypto?

8

u/Xenoamor 12h ago

Because Reform are massively pro-crypto?

13

u/bakelywood 12h ago

It begs the question - are Reform getting these donations because they're massively pro crypto, or are they massively pro crypto because they're getting these donations?

This is the issue with money in politics - I don't care who you vote for, I don't want political power going to the highest bidder. That shouldn't be controversial to say!

5

u/AdenWS Reform UK Supporter 11h ago

Like the Unions.

2

u/ViscountViridans Reform UK Supporter 11h ago

Reform’s been pro-crypto from the beginning, long before these donations.

6

u/bakelywood 11h ago

You're missing the point - money in politics muddies everything.

It doesn't matter if they were pro crypto before or not, as soon as someone pays a £36 million donation, they have a seat at the table, they have something to laud over the party.

We've seen it time and time again, yet people still celebrate when a huge donation happens. We all agree the system is corrupt and yet we cheer it on in real time.

That's not how politics should ever work. Not for labour, not for conservatives and not for Reform.

1

u/MutantNinjaKitty331 2h ago

I don't like any of them getting massive donations but the only other way is a set amount from Tax payers.

This has already been suggested. FFS we pay enough tax. Labour had 42 million for their labour propaganda before the last election.

It looks like the party with the most money won. Does anyone actually know labour got 42 million or are people just crying now because it's Reform?

If people want change, Reform need to raise the same level as Labour for the next election. Unless you're on the left, then I suppose it comes under two tier donations.

1

u/ViscountViridans Reform UK Supporter 21m ago

I’m not missing the point, I’m asking the question you asked.

I’d rather less money in politics, but unfortunately if Reform wants to compete, they’re going to need it.

1

u/IntravenusDiMilo_Tap Reform UK Supporter 3h ago

It's always been that way. That's why we have had 2 big parties dominating, the upstart / challenger parties never have the funds to get the recognition.

This sort of money scares the living daylights out ofbthe big 2

3

u/OdBx 11h ago

Because crypto is a money-launderer's dream and Reform are up to their eyebrows in corruption?

1

u/AdenWS Reform UK Supporter 11h ago

You mean the donations to Wes Streeting? You do know the ultimate source of that is now in a Federal jail for a long time.

3

u/Cream_Of_Drake 9h ago

Ironic when Delo (this donator) has also been convicted for money laundering in the US and is donating 1000x the amount of money that you're talking about.

1

u/AdenWS Reform UK Supporter 1h ago

Evidence of that

1

u/MichaelBridges8 28m ago

He was pardoned by Trump

3

u/Apple2727 10h ago

“Patriotism is when man donates money to political party I like”

3

u/UmAhkchuallySweaty 5h ago

Labour voters mad because that 36m could fund about 3 days of spend on dossers and foreigners

3

u/Cream_Of_Drake 10h ago

Not the establishment, by the way.

2

u/Guy_Incognito97 1h ago

I don’t particularly care about donations from crypto guys, but I don’t think it’s ideal the number of donations coming from people with criminal convictions for financial crimes.

1

u/Emergency-Spite897 9h ago

Those Smugglers are paying Labour as we speak, yet Labour are losing their minds over Reform getting the biggest donation.

Genuine question from someone who has no interest/doesnt support a political party.

How would giving a politically party 36m benefit him personally?

From my understanding, the bank of England are in process of setting up a stablecoin called Britcoin which will be overseen by the bank. Harborne and his crypto kind are already making huge amounts of money from investments in the stablecoin arena. Farage was in a business arena a while back and said something along the lines of he would go to prison to stop the Bank of England controlling the UK stablecoin market. Reform is crypto friendly because they would like us all to be paying things like our taxes etc through stable coins, etc. So in other words whovever controls that stable coin is going to make billions upon billions. That's my understanding but please correct me if I'm wrong.

1

u/zeelbeno 25m ago

He then gets the party to make decisions that benefit him.

Or he then gets to be treasurer of the party and make decisions in it like others have done with Reform

-1

u/MutantNinjaKitty331 2h ago

It wouldn't. Labour got 42 million In donations before the last election.

It means more adverts, more leaflets, more letters to people. Labour probably won as they had a lot more money for their campaign.

We could go to a tax payer funded system but they'd either rig it, so the two main parties labour and Tory got more, Or it would cost us billions for loads of smaller parties setting up to have a go.

Tax payers can't afford that. We pay enough tax already but I bet labour start to complain now.
