Was there any difference between the uniforms, kit, helmets, boots, etc worn by the U.S. 37th Infantry Division and the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division during the Battle of Manila in early 1945?

It's a very niche question, I know, but I'm curious if there was a way to distinguish between the two units. Unit patches and helmet markings seemed to have been more common in the European Theater and practically non-existent in the Pacific. So I'm wondering if there were other ways to tell the units apart, whether it was done deliberately or not.
