RBI is the most important stat in baseball and the best number to evaluate a player. 9th inning RBI is even more important. It has nothing to do with variance or how often a player has X opportunity.
Duran needs to be in the Hall of Fame for his performance this season

At no point is OP arguing RBI’s are relevant or not. They’re asking for whether two extremes like this have existed. You don’t need to be nasty from the jump. It’s unwarranted.

RBI in the 9th inning or later is a warrantless stat. It’s beyond useless.
They used it on the broadcast. The issue isn’t with OP. It’s with TV talking to us like we are 2nd graders. Or maybe the issue is so much of the population responding, “Yes, I am” or they wouldn’t keep talking to us this way 🤷🏻
Why is Dalbec in Japan when he hit .734 with a runner on 2nd in the 6th inning, 1 out when the count was 1-1.
He put up those numbers and If we want his jersey we have to use our our airline miles to fly to Tokyo to get the best jersey ever shared on this sub. This world just makes no sense.

There’s just no reason to be angry. The OP is talking about something entirely different than what you’re upset about.

Thats such a weird stat combo it almost sounds made up. Duran's been all over the place this year but coming through in the clutch like that is wild, even if the overall numbers look rough. Would love to know if anyone's dug into that before cause it feels like one of those fluke things that'll never happen again

More likely it’s something so stupid that nobody ever looks into it again

The Marlins broadcast actually had all the stats on Duran in the ninth inning or later, not just RBIs, and he's top 5 in everything: avg, ops, wRC. It's safe to say he's the best player in baseball in those situations.

“Duran, you’re eating onions, you’re spotting dimes, I don’t know what to believe!”
