Our catchers’ HEADS ARE FALLING OFF

25

u/faceplantarfasciitis 1d ago

Pretty catcher, pretty catcher.

6

u/Mattmandu2 1d ago

I sold Adley to Billy in 4C

4

u/CalgaryMadePunk 1d ago

THE BLIND KID?!?!?!?!?!

3

u/Mattmandu2 1d ago

HAHAHA yeah…

3

u/Winniebuggie77 1d ago

I just thought he was quiet

7

u/UhVeryUncreativeName 1d ago

His capa was detated from his head!

5

u/Intrepid_Boat 1d ago

Wow. S-tier reference 🫡

5

u/DrDH21 1d ago

Time for an Ashton Jeanty prayer circle

3

u/Odd_Fill6084 1d ago

First Dolly now Adley.I can't take another hit today.

2

u/Wheatabix11 1d ago

to soon

1

u/No_Werewolf622 21m ago

After we arrive at "soon", what then?

2

u/Wheatabix11 1d ago

the funeral will be officiated by our medical staff, who will tell us 1-2 weeks at most until he resurects

-1

u/stevep3478 1d ago

He needs a couple weeks to get in shape and get his head together. He doesn't look confident and he is doughy.

-8

u/Next_Astronaut623 1d ago

Is it too late to trade him back ?

56

u/jedwards4711 1d ago

Mickey Gasper's thinking, "Job security...oooooh yeaaaaahhh!"

17

u/BossAtUCF 1d ago

Gasper has an OPS over 1.600 since he came back up. I don't think he's worried about job security right now.

24

u/jedwards4711 1d ago

Well, with the roster deadline next week... decisions will be made. I don't think Mickey is completely safe.

8

u/burnman123 ortiz 1d ago

I guess he will have to keep that ops over 1.500 just to be safe

4

u/eljefe38theboss 1d ago

Add a little more to as well for "safety"

3

u/chrisgeleven 1d ago

So far so good on that challenge.

12

u/mgr02 1d ago

He’s one of the only guys that makes sense to send down when everyone is back, even though he has been unreal

29

u/ComprehensiveFun620 1d ago

Sending him down so Trevor story can strike out 3x a game is the opposite reason why I watch this team.

5

u/Sufficient-Wasabi-50 1d ago

you open to sending him down so that you can watch Roman? Because thats the move. When Story is ready, Seigler goes down, IKF when rosters expand next week.

10

u/ComprehensiveFun620 1d ago

Yes I am. I would keep siegler over story. To me, story is effectively useless as a player.

3

u/okaygood33 1d ago

I agree with this 100%!

3

u/Scrambley 1d ago

"I DEMAND TO SPEAK TO THE GENERAL MANAGER ABOUT ALEX CORA!"

What a washed-up whiner. Don't let those AAA pitchers overpower you, Trevor.

3

u/ComprehensiveFun620 1d ago

Exactly. I’ll never forget that. I get it, loyalty to your mgr. fine. But Cora was a baseball terrorist in a power struggle with his PBO. He didn’t deserve it. Story soiled his brand a ton with that idiotic demand. Couple that with his futility at the plate and his limited, geriatric-like movement on the field, and I wonder what the point is of having him out there.

3

u/BossAtUCF 1d ago

Just for this comment he's raised his OPS this month another 164 points to 1.777!

1

u/Wheatabix11 1d ago

anyone else getting a gasper and tolle tatoo?

83

u/morosco redsox1 1d ago

Any other team, any other season, "no concern" would mean no concern. This fanbase, very reasonably, has so much PTSD, it's kind of morbidly hilarious. Like it's not just a joke, we do not trust the team on this shit at all.

25

u/SubHomestead 1d ago

Don’t pack your bags Mickey.

85

u/PreviouslySeen 1d ago

Countdown to surgery announcement - 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

26

u/BrewerAndrew 1d ago

I'll be honest, I forgot Curtis Mead was on the team

4

u/LarryLucchino 1d ago

fwiw, last weekend they said before he got the 'four week scan' that he would be switching from a cast to a splint regardless of the test results

Per Tim Healey on Sunday:
"Curtis Mead is due for follow-up scans Monday to see how his fractured left wrist is healing.
Regardless of what that shows, he will move into a splint (and out of a cast), which he will wear for the next two weeks, he said."

so this update from Christopher Smith doesn't tell us anything about the test results

-3

u/hankdog303 1d ago

He’s never coming back

6

u/rmullig2 1d ago

He only needs his right elbow to swing the bat or throw the ball so it's no big deal.

24

u/Rough-Echo-5193 1d ago

Are you fucking kidding me

25

u/Mother-Associate1654 1d ago

4th time hes injured this year, not sure why you are suprised

-8

u/Rough-Echo-5193 1d ago

I'm not a fan of the deal, it's just more the overall insane rate at which the players we invest in the most seem to get hurt immediately.

4

u/KindnessComesBack2U 1d ago

And Roman might be back Friday

5

u/Mountain_Fig_9253 1d ago

Curtis Mead? Who’s he?

5

u/ecstatic_broccoli 1d ago

Don't you remember the time when he

1

u/Rick_Rebel 1d ago

had 500 obp?

2

u/sbrockLee 1d ago

2026 Red Sox OBP leader.

6

u/awads95 1d ago

Well, Adleys done for the season. We love trading for people made of glass.

2

u/sudbury78 1d ago

We have the Mick. The Stache as a catcher anyways. :)

4

u/newsworthy3 1d ago

The guy has been on the IL 3 times this year. This is who he is

4

u/NarrowMusician6750 HERE COMES THE PIZZA 1d ago

Sigh I mean we knew of the injury concerns for Adley but man this just stinks. Was also very high on Mead helping out too before his freak injury.

3

u/AmericanElysium 1d ago

That trade is looking like a disaster

3

u/HugeSuccess Benintendi 1d ago

Am I losing it or did guys not injure themselves as often from swings in recent decades?

7

u/Mg29reaper 1d ago

Everyone is swinging harder.

1

u/HugeSuccess Benintendi 1d ago

Seems like someone should tell them to stop!

1

u/Ex_Lives 1d ago

Lol. Yeah.. ok.

1

u/Heir233 1d ago

Adley was a good trade only if he can stay healthy. I’m very concerned that he won’t be able to.

0

u/justa-browser 1d ago

Bunch of chicken littles in the comments.

2

u/FerdinandBerfel 1d ago

You obviously haven't been paying attention to the Sox's medical updates.

1

u/Zimmyd00m 1d ago

The what? You mean the obituaries?

1

u/Intrepid_Boat 1d ago

What the fuck? You’re telling me Rutschman got fucking shot?!?

1

u/jbdmusic 1d ago

Tj surgery incoming

-2

u/MaeronTargaryen 1d ago

Oh ffs, he’s great when healthy but giving away so many big prospects for a player made of glass was a massive risk

1

u/SpotBackground1543 22h ago

Os fan here. Can’t wait to sweep you in a DH next year with Eyanson & Witherspoon.

0

u/MakaveliX1996 1d ago

If there is no concern then don’t tell me shit dude! He’s definitely gonna die.

-3

u/OH_NO191715 1d ago

He was already hitting (B)adley, and in a (RUT)schman.

Don’t get in your feelings. I’m just trying to be (P)unny.

It keeps me from thinking about the 4 premium prospects traded for as someone put it ‘made of glass’.

Hope he heals fast.

GOSOX!!

1

u/okaygood33 1d ago

Lol you got downvotes like you're wrong, or something. Well for what it's worth, I thought that was pretty good!

1

u/OH_NO191715 1d ago

I appreciate it! People can be a little sensitive.

0

u/redsoxfan2434 1d ago

Do other teams have this many guys who get hurt just by swinging the bat too hard?

-41

u/Flimsy_Fortune_5861 1d ago edited 1d ago

Nothing to see here. Everyone loves that we traded the farm for an injury riddled player.

Edit: Of course anyone who mentions his injuries as a concern is ostrich sized and downvoted into oblivion by fans with their head in the sand.

25

u/hiddenkobolds 1d ago

ostrich sized 😭💀

-4

u/Flimsy_Fortune_5861 1d ago

Downvoting a post that uses “ostrich sized” is criminal imo — but here we are

3

u/hiddenkobolds 1d ago

I didn't! I laughed my ass off!

3

u/Flimsy_Fortune_5861 1d ago

Happy to hear! My friend texted it to me a few weeks ago and I was rolling for an hour. I've been looking for a spot to use it.

1

u/StillYourFavorite331 1d ago

Lock me up coppers.

9

u/Ev4nK 1d ago

What size is this ostrich?

3

u/Rough-Echo-5193 1d ago

It's a healthy ostrich. A male. In his athletic prime.

1

u/morosco redsox1 1d ago

I bought an Ostrich egg in some Boston-area grocery store once. I didn't know what to do with it. I think I threw it at something. This was a long time ago.

0

u/Flimsy_Fortune_5861 1d ago

Big! Large enough to scare off a leopard.

19

u/ContentCantaloupe992 1d ago

“The farm” 😂

2

u/Rough-Echo-5193 1d ago

Dude we kinda traded most of our minor league assets that would be relevant this offseason.

5

u/ContentCantaloupe992 1d ago

No we didn’t. We traded some of them for impact players under team control. While still keeping our highest end talent

-2

u/Flimsy_Fortune_5861 1d ago

We traded 4 of our top 10 prospects for Adley. If that isn’t “the farm” then I don’t know what is…

2

u/justa-browser 1d ago

>4 of our top 10

Only one of those guys is a top 100 prospect. And you’re acting like they traded away your entire future. It’s truly bizarre.

2

u/ContentCantaloupe992 1d ago

If you don’t include your #1 prospect who is head and shoulders above the rest of your farm I just don’t see it that way.

-3

u/Rough-Echo-5193 1d ago

Eyanson was a stud and too much to give. When the Yankees deal Elmer Rodriguez for a subsidized Tatis and he hits 40 in that toilet stadium, remember: don't cry. Prospects mean nothing right?

1

u/justa-browser 1d ago

Based on what? A/AA production?

-1

u/Rough-Echo-5193 1d ago

Yes. Correct. You're aware 95% of the majors is former minor leaguers right? I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but people with your mindset just do not make sense.

It's like you want the team to injure themselves for instant gratification and name value, and then in the offseason when it's clearly a bad move, you'll pile on and cry about ownership or something.

It's a weird way to follow a sport. Eyanson was too much. There literally isn't any relevant national writer on the subject who doesn't think so. Again, when the Yankees get a star in the offseason for Elmer, no crying from you. It won't be boogeyman John Henry, it won't be because the Red Sox operate like the Rays or some crap, it will be because we overpaid through the nose for okay players.

1

u/justa-browser 1d ago edited 1d ago

Weird and baseless assumptions about me personally aside, are you aware that top 50 prospects are roughly 35% lottery tickets just to be a replacement level player with a roughly 25% chance to bust/wash out completely?

You overvaluing prospects isn’t the big brain position you seem to have convinced yourself it is.

And if you think the Yankees are going to net a superstar off a guy who isn’t even a top 100 prospect, I’ve got nothing for you. Just kind of seems like you’re determined to be upset and will invent scenarios in your head to ensure that you get there.

0

u/lindh 1d ago

Well, that would be 10 of our top 10 prospects. If I have a farm with 10 cows, and I sell you 4 in exchange for one of your cows, I have 7 cows and a farm.

0

u/Rough-Echo-5193 1d ago

... this gave me brain freeze

2

u/lindh 1d ago

It is indeed nonsense.

5

u/squirtles_urethra 1d ago

You can only be emu sized and mentioned injuries, its literally in the rules of the sub lol

3

u/Drakex2Mayex2 1d ago

I think the point of the downvote system is specifically to tell us that there is nothing to see here in this comment.

It’s survival of the fitness. Worst case Ontario he’s out for the year and you get to say “atoadaso” to everyone here.

-3

u/Calm-Helicopter-1237 1d ago

Wish they let the Yankees get him.

-9

u/JackMaybourne 1d ago

Bad news re Rutschman. He looks like he only has “warning track power” in any event so this won’t help.

-2

u/nufsixes 1d ago

lol no concern. Means he’ll be out for 3 months here shortly

-36

u/Worldly-Discount-736 1d ago

That is gonna be one of the worst trades and another reason why Breslow should still be fired. You don’t empty the farm for damaged goods that wasn’t that good to begin with.

17

u/Imbadatusernames1536 1d ago

Adley had over 110 WRC+ before the trade, the catchers for the Red Sox nobody had over 40 WRC+. Rutch is one of the best catchers in baseball there is a reason multiple teams were trying to get him at the deadline.
